Re: how do you start fast in 6mt
Hey Studly...Congrats.Your in for a real treat. The way I go off is bring rpm up to about 1500 and let the clutch out smartly, don't drop it. Once the clutch bites (peddle to the metal). That first gear is so quick you'll be at redline almost instantly with no wheel spin. Try to catch 2nd gear at or around 4500 rpm, peddle on the deck as soon as the clutch bites...this happens fast. You'll get second gear rubber but now go for just below redline, about 5500 or 6000 rpm, go for third and run it up...you should be damn close to a buck 00 (100mph). 4th and 5th go to Infinity it seem.....just the wind will hold you back.
Some good advise: Do not high rev and feather the clutch otherwise you'll meet "MR.I Burned MyFish"....that rotton smell from the burning clutch.
Have fun.

Re: how do you start fast in 6mt
I just posted a thread on this called "How to get the best 0-60mph time." I find that the best 0-60mph start is with the rpms between 2500~3000 rpm, and remember to turn OFF the VDC control. The tires will chirp a little (which is ok), and then it will bit. Like someone else said, don't dump the clutch, but once it engages, you can hit the pedal and you will get launched. It is really fun once you get it... Have fun...

Re: how do you start fast in 6mt
although it may seem fast, slipping the clutch isnt the quickest way to go. there needs to be some wheel spin to get into the meat of the power band. remember, max torque isnt until about 4800 rpms. at the track, i side-stepped the clutch at around 2 grand. that got me my best time. i need to practice some and experiment with different launch points. but with a high-strung engine, such as ours, there needs to be some wheelspin to get it going.........
