I have had a 04 6MT Coupe on order since mid-July and it should be coming in soon. At the time the dealer told me I would have to pay MSRP, and I put down $1K without signing a purchase contract (the pricing for '04 models was not set at the time). I've noticed plenty of 6MTs in stock at the local dealers and other dealers within the area (midwest) which are close enough to what I ordered that I would take them - I am looking for 6MT + premium in pretty much any color. I don't know if i should just wait for my car to arrive and try to argue over the price with the dealer or just call around and take something out of another dealer's stock. I am sure there are others here that have been in this situation or are in it now. Anyone have ideas on how to get a deal in this position or have something that worked for them?

 

if you can get your deposit back and they won't/can't get a coupe in you want.. Yes, you should get yourself a car somewhere else. As you know they are now available so why should you have to wait because this dealership can't get you a car.

You didn't sign anything, they don't have your car in, you can definately get your deposit back.

It's your choice though. I'd recommend waiting for exactly the options you want, and haggling over the price on that, be it from that dealer or another. You've waited this long. You don't want to go home with a car tomorrow, and next month start saying, "I wish I had the _____...."

I talked to my dealer today and he is telling me it won't be until January to get my Coupe! This order was placed in mid-July! I asked him when he put the order in and he said it will get placed first thing in October. I can't believe he did this, there was never a call to let me know the time frame. The best he could do is give me some line about dealer allocations and how rare the car is still. I am in the midwest, a G35 coupe won't do me much good in Jan. I am really pissed about this situation and am wonder if this car is worth the hassle at this point. At least he didn't argue about giving my deposit back...

 

This dealer doesn't have any in stock? I would get your deposit back and either drive down the street and buy one off a different dealer or look online.
