HID Fog Lights

Has anyone tried or been able to replace the standard lights in the stock headlight cluster with an HID bulb? I would like to do this if possible, other than installing an expensive aftermarket HID bracket set-up in the front bumper...

Any ideas? Let me know!

Thanks.

If you want to, you might want to get H4 based HID kit. But reliability is not all that great. Or you can get bi-xenon projectors intalled. Or go to japanparts.com and buy the front bumper covers for 400 and just buy a set of HID kit with projectors that fits in the front bumper.

You have bi-xenon? I don't think so, if you did it means the LOWBEAM has a moving shield, you can test by having someone else flick the high beam on and off and try to hear if the headlight makes a clicking sound. Or if the lowbeam appears to be brighter when high beam is on.
The bixenon Im refering to is the foglight/hi-beam, this allows you to retain both functionality when you change it into HIDs.

3000K would look like the Lexus yellow foglight.

For the 06's, you can change your lower fog light area into HID's if you choose, whatever kelvin temperature you may like (3000K,4300K,6000K) and it will not affect your low beam or high beam since 06's have projector bi-xenons. 03-05's, the fog/high beam is combined in one reflector thru a dual filament bulb. If you change your fog light to hid, you will lose high beam functionality, and only your fogs will work.

I have hid fogs on my 06 coupe.
its . simple. just plug the + to + and then splice the h1 negative bulb (hid one) into the neg wire on the harness and you're set.

There's more to it than that. First off, there is a cap that seals and hides away all the bulbs. To run the wiring from the ballasts, you're going to need to drill an extra hole into that cap and then seal it nicely or it could cause condensation to form in the headlight assembly.

I purchased an HID kit, forgot the brand tho, and the ground wire from the bulb was really short and I couldn't reach a good ground point. There is no real harness per se in the H1 fog light bulb. It is simply a power connector. The way the H1 bulb is designed is that it only has one connector for power and the base of the bulb is metal, which I found is actually used as a ground which uses the headlight housing itself as a contact point, so expecting to plug the ground into the negative side would not be a totally accurate statement.

These are some of the obstacles you may have to overcome. I figure I'd give you a heads up

right on.
I forgot to mention those important parts. i'm actually taking out my hid fogs and just going to be running some regular bulbs in there. i never use the fogs and I dont want to overpower my hid projectors with my hid fogs so.
good luck!

Can I just take the fog bulbs out and replace them with pair of NightHawks or the like?
