Can anyone help me? I want to learn to use the manual shift in my '03 sedan without ruining the transmission.

However, read, as has been suggested above. When you understand the concept of what a transmission actually does and how the clutch is related you need to practice, practice. That practice need's to be with someone who is proficient a manual. It's really tough learning on your own.

Well that's impossible considering the AT has 5 ratios and isn't manual. Kinda in complete opposite juxtaposition to the thread title.

 

dude he has 2 post and called it the "manual shift" now im thinking this dude doesnt even know what a clutch is but idk well just wait and see thats if he posts back

 

by the title of the thread hes asking how to drive a 6 speed manual, but to me his post makes it seem like he is talking about the manual mode on the auto...have to wait and see

 

 

I had this impression as well.

 

my bad. its an auto. im talking about the the manual mode

 

just switch the shifter over and hit up to shift up and down to shift down... play with it and you'll pick it up. just dont shift back and forth too quickly.. if you want to shift from 5 to 3 you hit the shifter down twice and the other way around is vice versa... the tranny does the work for you. and you only have 5 gears if you're an auto not 6
