Suggestions... wife's car lease is almost up.
Hi all, I have an emerald mist G35 sedan which I am extremely happy with. My wife has an X5 which she really likes but she says occassionally she misses driving a car. With gas prices in NY... premium $2+, it is something to consider. My wife always wants my opinion and of course I will be driving her car more than she drives mine. So it is in my interest to get something that suits her and myself as well.
Well I would like suggestions from you folks. The next car must be a sedan with good horsepower, possibly AWD, decent handling, very nice interior, and offers good customer service. Help me out... I have a few candidates but would love to hear your opinions.

Try the FX35, actually... We took a 45 home for a few days, and it's just a tad "jumpy" because it has so much power... hard to be "smooth". The FX35 feels much smoother, you don't even miss the extra few horses from the 45, but it's about a $10k difference.
In short, get the FX35. Having driven both extensively, I can honestly tell you the 35 will give her the excitement and performance of a car and the convenience of an SUV. We drove them around for a while and picked the 35... never looked back.

I would suggest the FX35 as well or the new 3.0L X5. The X5's are coming out with a redesign by the end of this year. I have seen some previews of the car and it looks very elegant and aggressive.
Personally, I like the styling of the X5 better than the FX, but you cant beat the value that Infitinti puts in each car.

Re: Suggestions... wife's car lease is almost up.
Oh yeah I considered them (the FX35 and 45)but they are not sedans which she has expressed an interest in. Also she is not really crazy with FX design, she does not like the Murano either. I am really thinking sedans.
Re: Suggestions... wife's car lease is almost up.
Thanks for responses and suggestions. My wife is not really feelin the FXs. I will suggest a testdrive. I really want to explore other sedans.
Re: Suggestions... wife's car lease is almost up.
Gotcha. My mom wanted a sedan at first, but when I convinved her to drive the FX because it combined the drive and feel of a "sedan" with the convenience of her old car, she fell in love. The styling is definitely a love/hate thing, though I used to hate it, but now I love it... same with the rest of my family.
What kind of sedan is she looking at? How about an M35 (coming soon), A4, S60, ES330, etc.? Does she prefer drive over luxury, luxury over apearance, etc.? Let us know- hope we can be of some help.

does it have to be new? Before I bought my G I was seriously considering a '01 BMW 740ia. They are really nice and go from 35k-43K depending on condition and mileage. In a couple of years I plan to replace my taurus SHO with one

Re: Suggestions... wife's car lease is almost up.
GeoBau, hmm the M35, but when will that be out? Actually I was seriously wondering about in this order...
1. Audi A4 3.0
2. New Acura TL 280 hp (have to see it in person)
3. Audi1.8 turbo (Idon't think its enuff HP, my wife like HP
4. New BMW 5 series maybe a 530 (thats stretching it)
BMW's are excellent cars but can be expensive to maintain and the lease has small print items which we have learned about $$$. Audi has a very attractive lease agreement.
Hope that helps.

Wait til the new Subaru Legacy comes out. You said you wanted AWD right? And it should have turbo and around 250+ hp

Sorry, I didnt really read all your post, so I was going along with what the other members were suggesting. I thought it was a SUV you wanted.
OK, if its a sedan you want then you should look into the redesigned 2004 Acura TL. The styling is a lot better inside and out. The inside of the TL looks absolutely stunning. Much better than the G35 IMHO. Power is good, handing is good, drivetrain is smooth.
Everything a wife could ever want and need in a sedan.
