Transmission hiccups shifting from 2nd to 3rd

Seeking others' advice on a hesitant auto transmission shift from 2nd to 3rd gear. Under a moderately hard acceleration (such as coming out of a turn), as the revs climb in 2nd gear to about 3500-4500, as I let up on the pedal, the trans (in the auto mode) significantly "hiccups"/hesitates when making the shift from 2nd to 3rd. Under normal or light acceleration, at various times, there is a small "hiccup"/hesitation when shifting from 2nd to 3rd. Anyone had the same experience?

This is a concern, because every review I read says that the trans is silky smooth. Am I just creating a difficult situation for the trans?

I have it too. When shifting from 1500 to 3500 rpms it is not smooth. Kind of hesitates then quickly shifts. I ahd it at dealer once for this but could not verify. When I get my 3K change done I am taking the service writer out for a ride.

Have a healthy day!

Same problem here...also, I got a call from an Infiniti engineer tonight and he's going to give me $200 to take him for a test ride to demonstrate the problem...this is a response to the JD Power survey I responded to a few months ago...

RESET THE ECU - trust me guys - get your 200 and then show the tech the reset method - start her up and the shift lag will be gone...

Hmmmmm..... with mine I would describe it more as a shudder between 2nd and 3rd while under moderate to heavy accelleration. From what I have read on the internet it seems like it may be torque converter shudder, at least in my case. Here is one link that describes it.

Thats prob a tranny issue...i know the lag can be long and a little jerky so i thought you meant that...hope its not too bad...hey at least a warranty will cover it.

With my MT tranny it seems to shift not as smoothly for 2nd->3rd. Funny.

Re: Transmission hiccups shifting from 2nd to 3rd

I did a 24-hour battery disconnect (ECU reset), and I think it worked! The shift from 2nd to 3rd seems much better now; not perfect, but much better. I wonder if it will return to its previous state eventually.
Thanks for the suggestion SixFive.
