People also forget the weight difference between the 03/04 sedans vs. 05/06 sedans. The 05/06's probably due have more horsepower, but they also have more weight to lug around. This partially explains why the times published by magazines are so close.

That's true the weight can change it a little.
I don't think anyone can tell you for sure. Might just have to take it as a combo of all these things.

is there anyway to take parts off of a mt and put it on a at and get those extra 18hp, ex. take off manifold and plenum from 05mt and put it on a 05at and get the +18hp, just wondering

Fight for the faster "G"

It makes me laugh how all the owners of 03/04 cars try SO VERY VERY hard to make everyone beleive that the 05/06 cars are no faster than theirs and that its all a marketing ploy. GET REAL.

First things first, they ARE different. There were dozens of changes including the intake, exhaust manifold, valve strength, etc... In the end, the engine delivers MORE power at HIGHER RPM. With an increased redline and durability, it breathes higher and therefore makes additional power, in doing so, it loses a tiny bit of torque. In a manual tranny, that 10ft-lb of torque means little because you have a clutch to play with to dial in as much of that torque as you want.

As far as who is faster, well the proof is in the pudding. EVERY single pre-05 G i have gone up against, i have pulled away from. This is not about who is a better driver, because several times, this was done once rolling and just requied the gas pedal be pressed and see who has more pull. I have had guys in coupes look at me like "what the f**k?)

Cars get improvements every year. 05 trumped 04, just like 07 will trump 06, with well over 300 HP.

Thats life. Maybe next year i will try and convince owners of 07's that their cars look the same as the 06's. its just lighting which was used for marketing.

I agree...

I never said that the 05 doesn't have more power or is not faster. I agree that it is. The performance numbers and dyno's I have seen make me believe it is a little overrated and the 04 is a little underrated. Not enough to make them equal but less of a gap. It would have been stupid of Nissan to make the changes if nothing would have come from it.

Not to make this a battle of the model years but I've driven several 05 loaners and I've got to tell you my 04 pulls quite a bit harder. Now, having that been said I do have mods and have done a little tweaking so it's not really apples to apples comparison - Additionally I have always faired well with other year cars with similar mods - even MT (I'm AT).

Hate to burst the bubble - but in my case the 05 is not faster (even modded). As far as 1/8 or ¼ mile… I don’t know if I’ve raced an 05… I think a coupe at the track one day was 05 but he didn’t have very good ET – more due to driving than anything… determining “faster” at a track is very subjective – however I’d be glad to see if an 05 is truly that much (if any) faster than my measly 04 AT.

Stock to stock - I have no idea... but who that cares about performance is keeping it stock?

The only thing I can aurgue without a doubt: 06 navi > 03-05 navi...

Anyways, think about this: is a difference of 20hp at the engine really going to make that much a difference?

I think alot of people think that this 20hp difference is really going to make the 05-06 blistering quicker than the 03-04, but truth is, it's not.

Especially when the 05/06 weighs over 100lbs more. Its all about power to weight ratio.

Also lets see some pics of you 92' SE-R!! I have had a red and black one back in the day. I still want to get another just to make a weekend race car one day. 280whp, talk about power to weight!
