How do you like your G35 Sedans?

Hello everyone.. I joined this board because in December i'm going to purchase a G35X and i wanted some opinions from people who drive them daily.
Are they worth the money? Any Interior or Exterior flaws? Thanks

Ron

Re: How do you like your G35 Sedans?

I recently got my sedan (6MT) and love it. The engine is so smooth and powerful. Everything about the driving experience is sublime in my opinion, better than any 3-Series except the M3 and 330i ZHP but those are over $10,000 more than an equally equiped G35 sedan.

I really like the G35 interior, many complain about the plastics but it really is not that bad, the BMW has just as much plastic. The only thing I do not like are the button feedback when you push them, if you go for a test drive press a few buttons and see what I mean. That is really not an important problem and is easily overlooked. Definetly get the premium package as your rear seat passengers will love the reclining seats. I sat back there and it is very roomy and comfortable which cannot be said about the competition.

I love mine. Have had it for a year now and it still feels and drives like new. I have had to have it in for service on small things a few times, but the dealership has always provided excellent service and loaner cars. I have never had any major problems with the car. The things I've had serviced were a CD player malfunction, a rattle in the rear deck area, and a piece of weatherstripping around the rear door that came loose because on of my drunken passengers ripped it loose. The CD player and rattle had existing TSB's and were fixed promptly, and they even replaced the wather-stripping no questions asked.

Good luck with your purchase!

There was a lengthy thread with lots of posts where people put their top 3 positives and negatives about the G35. You might want to look at that thread.

...without a doubt!

Any Interior or Exterior flaws? Thanks"\
Every car has a few "hiccups"...IMO there isn't anything that I consider serious enough to be flaws. Check out the thread dream posted above.

Awesome car. Looks good, handles great, very comfortable, nice interior and the best V6 thrust from any Japanese sedan.

Extremely reliable and alot of car for the money.
I love this car as much as when I first bought it.

Re: How do you like your G35 Sedans?

Very happy so far -- with about 400 miles on the car since I picked it up last week. I'm being careful during the break-in period, but the car is great to drive.

My last 2 cars have been Volvos, and the G seems at least as well put together as either -- it's very solid. It lacks a few features, some of the ergonomics are questionable and the seats aren't as comfortable as the Swedes, but for the money you can't beat it. I can get used to an oddly placed switch here and there for better performance and a $10K lower MSRP than my C70 had 5 years ago. No car is perfect, but this one will leave you smiling.

Hate every minute...I'm not driving the G. It's been a great 7 months and almost 14K. No significant issues other than learning how to drive a six speed and minor irritations like brake pad dust on the wheels. I think you will find it's a great value as well versus much of the competition. If you are just starting to shop, I do recommend that you go test a new TL, and then go try an Altima 3.5.

G35/S/MT....this car rocks!

Re: How do you like your G35 Sedans?

NBM99Firehawk - I've had a '96 A4Q since new, that is being replaced by a G35X in Dec. (already on order). We have loved the A4, except for the lack of reliability. Many problems with the electrical system (e.g., sunroof switch replaced three times); air conditioning (condenser replaced twice - $1600 each time); also door switches, radio, wheel bearings, rotors, etc. We only have 85,000 miles on the car! Thank god for an after market warrantee! We considered another Audi, but according to Consumer Reports repair survey, the newer A4s are worst than ours.

Not trying to be bias but the G (sedan & coupe) is a smart buy. It has the total package; performance, value. looks and performance!!!
Just like most in here, I looked at the bimmer, audi and caddie. After the smoke cleared my wife bought a sedan and I got the coupe.

Re: How do you like your G35 Sedans?

NBM99Firehawk- Be ware. I would not recommend you to take the plunge into the A4 hurtle. Or my friend should've sold you his 2001 A4 if I read your posting last week. He has an A4 1.8 that its Check Engine Light just refuses to be truned off despite numerous attempt to fix the problem, not to mention many other drivetrain related problems. He finally dumped his car to a used car dealer last week and bought a G35 6mt. Stop fantasizing about those exotic brand names that just woun't hold up in reality and back to the good ole reliable ***.

Re: How do you like your G35 Sedans?

I've had friends overestimate the capabilities of the A4Q and take bad spins on snow. Two magic words : SNOW TIRES.

All testing by consumer reports, C&D etc. seems to indicate that snow tires with a rear wheel car with stability control comes close to a awd with all seasons. AWD with snow tires would be totally awesome. With just awd, don't forget, stopping and cornering are only marginally helped by awd. All of us have 4wd braking and cornering already

Re: How do you like your G35 Sedans?

Hey NBM99Firehawk,
I assume you'll be buying a manual. If so, you'll love Infiniti's 6MT... I had a 99 TA with the 6MT and it feels very similar - has a rigid turnstyle solidity to it. Right now I also have a A6 with the 2.7T and I can only hope the S4 has a different shifter... the A6's is sloppy, with long throws and a lot of play. I will say the Audi's interiors are beautiful, but I've had a few problems that I'd hate to have when the warranty is up; window regulators left my windows down in freezing temps (twice!); turn signals stopped working; something in the shifter broke off and really turned it to slop. Everything is replaced under warranty, but it takes forever to get parts in, and the service is lacking - a lot of apathy from the service personell. Also, we only have one Audi dealer in the area and it once took me six weeks before they could fit me in... something to consider no matter what brand you buy.

Also, the 2.7T engine is strong, but not off the line. It's loves to be above 60 and can really fly once there.
