This is what I always tell my friends when purchasing a new set of wheels:
1) establish a budget. If money is not a problem you can have a custom made set of wheels.
2) determine style and look you want. If you don't like to spend hours cleaning wheels, then stick to a simple spoke design.
3) look at the lines of the wheels vs. the car and the color contrast. Some wheels will look great on Coupes but not so hot on the Sedans.
4) road conditions around the area where you live to help you decide the size
5) is this your daily driver or just your leisure car?
6) do you care about performance? Different wheels have different weights.
BTW, when people talk about rolling fenders, we are referring to the inside lip of your wheel well. When you roll it (or push it up), it will yield more clearance for more agressive wheels and tires.
