Thinking of trading in for a G35x

Hey all,

I am thinking of trading in my 2001 Audi allroad for the G35x w/Pkg C, Nav, Sirrius and full spare for $35K +tx.

I have a few questions...

I wanted to hear from a fiew peeps on the reliablilty of this vehicle.

How it handles in the snow?

What type of gas do most peeps use?

How is the nav? You like?

Thanks...

I must admit, I am also looking at the Lexus ES350 (same price, no nav though)

1- It handles amazing in the snow. I have never had an AWD vehicle before and I must say that I had no problems getting around.

2- I only use premium gas.

3 - I opted not to get navi so I cant give you any feedback on that.

Hope this helps!!

Welcome, Jaykray. The X is a great choice. From what I've been told, it handles great in the snow, and you'll love the navi.
You can use regular, but most use premium for optimum performance.

Amazing on snow, I do 60 mph on snow, with the 50/50 front/rear snow mode launch, beats everything I run into at green light on snow.

Fun to do Power slide Cornering, very predictable, feel like drift car on snow
& the AWD could power out a corner easily.

I use medium grade gas mostly, premium from time to time.

Did not get the Nav. Probably will get a portable NAV. if I really need one.

Did not get the $500 factory Sirius option, instead used the money for a Sirius GTR replay that hardwired into the Navagation Pocket with Life Time Subscription.

Mine handles extremely well in snow. I had a 96 Audi A4 Quattro that probably handled a little better in the snow, but that may have been because it had MUCH less horse power (about 160, I believe). The G handles very well on regular pavement too.

The Audi was also quite UNreliable and the G35x is VERY reliable. This is my third Infiniti (an early G20 and a '99 I30) and I am fond of saying that the Audi I had for less than three years spent more time in the shop for repairs than all three Infinitis combined. A friend had an Allroad that spent one month waiting for parts and repairs when the adjustable suspension decided to collapse.

I use premium, but the 04s can use medium. I did not get the Nav system.

I like my car a lot.

Happy shopping.

My G35x handles awesome in the snow. Last January I was driving home in a storm and I saw cars slipping all over the place. I felt comfortable driving my car and I was worried about other cars hitting me, not about the car slipping.

I use premium - the price difference between premium and plus is insignificant over the course of a year if you really think about it. If you're going to pay $35k for a car, don't skimp on the gas.

I have XM and it's wonderful. XM/Sirius, you can't go wrong.

The X is a great car, we love ours. Put on dedicated snows and that thing is a tank, it will go through a lot and is very, very predictable. You should use high test gas.
No major problems with the car so far, it's an 05 with 25,000 miles on it. If you have a choice between 05 and 06 get the 06, it has bigger front brakes than the 05. They brake the same but with the 05 G35X there is still more front brake dust build-up than on the 06. If you are **** about keeping your rims clean this could be a minor complaint.

don't have the X, I do have the nav. It is a real PITA to use as it is not touch screen and not voice activited, you have to use a joystick which is very touchy and mounted in a bad position. I like the birdseye angle you can select, but if you were to compare Lexus Nav to Infiniti Nav Lexus wins hands down. All in all I've gotten used to it and it can be a powerful tool, but if I had to do it all over again I would have saved the money and bought an aftermarket system.

1.)Handles amazing in snow
2.)93 Octane
3.) Navi is nice-wish i was touch screen though

Thoughts on ES 350... Test drove it for my mother, liked it very much but kinda to granny for me....its EXTREMLY Quiet so i couldn't take it...also the es's handlng is too smooth and loose lol...wouldnt be good if you like driving fast...my opinion is if you like sporty and aggressive go with the X its an amazing car...if u like quiet and smooth go with the ES...good luck dude

Wait and get the '07 so that you get the newest version of the navigation.. It's the same as the one in the M so try it out on the M first and see if you like it. As mentioned above, the '06 and under navi blows. The car is a true gem when it comes to reliability. No problems whatsoever minus the brakes which only affects '05 G35x and under so you're fine. The car has been described by everyone who has driven it as a "tank" in the snow. Doesn't get much better than that... I use anything from 87+ on my car with no issues.

06 navi is WAY better than 05 and below. i don't think the 06 sucks at all. i love it and use it often. the joystick took a little while to get the hang of, but it's pretty natural now
