Hey all,
This is my first post. I just bought a G35 Sedan Auto with Shiftronic...
It sucks driving it around in suburbia because it is BEGGING me to open it up on some windy roads. I had a little taste of the awesome handling when we went far out of the city to EBF to go to the drive-in.
Anyways, I have a 1/4 strip not too far from the house, and would love to take it out there to open it up.
Problem is... I've never done this before. Will it be a humiliation trying to do this with an auto trans?
Should I use the shiftronic? And if so, how high should I rev before shifting? I know how to drive stick, but have never used it for performance. This is my first perf. car.
Also, this car is completely stock. No Mods, Nothing fancy. I believe it only has 260hp.
TIA,
Dick

DaveB can give you some good advice on this. Just be patient.
No, it won't be bad to do this in an auto. Turn ac and vdc off and stomp it in auto. Repeat with manumatic mode. Good luck.

Just go have fun and see what you can do. If you do some mods then go back and see if you can do better. That is what the track is all about.

The faster cars at the strip are autos, by a long shot. Problem is, the G has limited mods available for you to improve your times. Most autos need a good torque converter to run well at the track.
But go and have fun anyway. Just don't expect a whole lot. Or you could enter bracket racing after you have some experience, cause your auto will be very consistent run to run.
