350z Tein springs on Sedan

I was looking over the paper that came with my 350z tein springs. It said that I need to cut my rubber bump stops. I did not do this...are these bump stops to help from bottoming out? Is it necessary to cut em?

you don't have to cut anything. you dont take out your rear shocks for the spring install in the rear
