I can't make out the maker of the ballast and such but:

It does look like a HID kit. I assume the H1 means it fits a H1 socket and plug for no cutting/splicing

Those are HID kits just not oem D2R or D2S bulbs. They make aftermarket kits to fit almost every bulb size. I have had similar kits on almost all my cars since 1998 with great success. I currently have a kit on my CBR600RR. They give a big increase in light output with less current draw. You just have to make sure and re-aim your headlights so you don't blind people.

I have never done a projector retrofit but there are some who have with the G35 headlights and they look great. The most common are the Acura TL and BMW E46 projectors followed by the Honda S2000.

Good luck!

My g35 sedan was a 03 without HIDs, what I did was buy 2 (LH, RH) used 03-04 headlight assemblies for HIDs w/ bulbs and ballasts and plug them in. They are plug and play and utilize your harness.

The actual assembly produces a much cleaner pattern than a kit would. I've tried both back in 2002 and you definately want the OE assembly.

If you get lucky you can pickup each side for model years 03-04 w/ bulb and ballasts for 100-125 on ebay.

Me and Ed had a couple of spare parts to test and glue back then.

Yes I agree. If you can find the oem housings with bulbs/ballasts it is the better way to go. All the other kits I have had were for cars that did not offer oem hid's.

I have a friend at work with an 03.5 sedan that did not come with leather, hid's or a moonroof. He found new housings (new to him) on ebay which came with bulbs and ballasts. He has been very happy with the swap. It was a plug-and-play swap.

I've seen legit broken tabbed lights on ebay. Only because the seller had a ton of nissan/infiniti parts on ebay and purchases old / broken dealer stuff. ie... sells the parts we get replaced on warranty etc..

But other than that, I agree with you

It could be legit but most of the people selling headlights on ebay are not.
