Installed Unrevised Z Springs Yesterday
I installed a set of unrevised Z springs on my 05 sedan yesterday. I am planning to install a set of coupe springs in the rear (should be here any day now). I went ahead and installed the z springs because I want to be able to compare the rear with both z springs and coupe springs. I will update this post with pics and measurements from the coupe springs when I get them installed sometime next week.
As you can see, the z springs lowered the front about 1" and the rear 1 1/4". It looks great but I think raising the rear a bit with the coupe springs will look better. Thanks to Gsedan35 for the great DIY! I am interested to see how an alignment will turn out. EDIT: I installed the coupe springs last weekend. As you can see it raised the rear about 1/2". Now, the fender gap in the front and rear are about the same. I think it looks much better. Total drop is now at 1" front and 3/4" rear. Much better! Thanks for the measurements and pics, it's good reference for newbs.

I installed an unrevised Z spring yesterday. Handle much better with extra camber. Not sure about coupe rear spring yet, waiting for it to settle a bit first. Didn't have time for a formal photo shoot, so please excuse the clutter.

Edited to include rear coupe springs measurement for anyone interested.

Jameyb, which coupe springs did you use. Did you use the standard ones that come with the 18 inch wheels or the sport that come with the 19 inch wheels.

I am going to take it in for alignment probably sometime next week. Hopefully, I won't be too far out on camber because I really don't want to mess with camber kits, etc. If I can get it within coupe specs as many have reported I will be plenty happy. I will post the results of the alignment when it happens. |
did you order the front Z springs and rear Coupe springs new from a dealer or were they sourced used from various web forums?
this combo looks perfect and I'm a bit keen on using OEM parts where possible. |
I bought the z springs from a user on my350z.com and the coupe springs from a user here. If you post a "Want to Buy" in the classified section you will get replies from several people looking to sell because they have gone with an aftermarket options.
Just a note, I don't know how much you have researched but you want to make sure you get the appropriate springs (i.e. revised or unrevised) depending on whether or not you want to change out your shocks. Shoot me a PM (or search for posts by Gsedan35) if you have questions. |
Revised Springs are stiffer in rear only. Also you will need to replace your shocks or get OEM 350Z shocks with the revised springs.
Unrevised Springs are actually the same as sport suspension that you can get on G35 and you will not have to replace your shocks. However, I do have the sports package on my G35. So I am still looking for an unrevised 350Z springs for my car. |
Jameyb; I love the drop, IMHO it drops the sedan just right without getting too ghetto.

5150,
Thanks! jimmy, Have you checked on my350z.com? There are usually quite a few people who are trying to get rid of their stock springs. |
