rim chips.

I got a set of Ikon rims polished lip, hyper black center. The lip is getting scratched from rocks and stuff, city driving. What should i do?

In a local shop they scratched my rim by a lift.. morons!! I want to get my rims redone. What doesnt scratch so easy? and what color should i do them? 19", my car is 03 black.

http://i15.ebayimg.com/01/i/06/6d/1f/ec_1_b.JPG (couldnt find hyper black) my rims center is silver you can say.

I think powder coating is the best but not sure if anything will protect against curb rash and such. If the local shop damaged a wheel, you should bring it up and ask them to fix it. The dealer scratched up my wheels and fixed them with no hassle.

Igor I don't know if this is a feature unique to Axis Milanos but my rims came with a protectant tint like film on them. It looks just like a clear bra on the wheels that have kept me from getting scratches. You might want to check or contact Axis about this. I brought my rims used so it's possible the previouos owner added this but I have never heard of an aftermarket product like this so I am certain it's something Axis does with their wheels.

I don't have pictures in which you can see the protectant film but you can tell it's there in person. If you are asking for pictures of the wheels in general click on my car domain page...

^it's probably the protective film they use when shipping the wheels out from the factory.

Well it's still on my wheels and I am not going to remove it! I don't have scratches or knicks

My volks have been on the car for 8 months and have plenty of chips in the lip. Its a part of driving on streets with small rock debris. Even if you re-do the wheels and powder coat them again, its still going to chip.

Your best bet is just to have the LIP chromed since it is more durable than a polished or powder coat finish and powder coat the rest.
