06g35x vs 06 g35

Huge difference in gas mileage in X version and just the g35? Also, my friend claims to keep up with a 06 g35x, with his maxima, possible right? Also, doesnt the 06 g35x look much different then just the g35..Body wise, arent there differences...Pics would be appreciated if there is...Thanks a lot guys

I have a 2006 G35x with 1500 km on it so it has not been broken in and so far, I've achieved about 11 L/100 km (i.e. between the highway and city gas consumption ratings posted by Infiniti) in mixed driving. Accordingly, I would assume a 5% difference between the G35 and G35x in gas consumption. But don't forget, if you drive in the slicks, the G35 may spin the tires more so that may worsen its gas consumptions and therefore I would say the gas consumption differences are negligible as a whole.

I used to have a 2003 Maxima SE 4-speed so to answer your question, yes, the Maxima can keep up with the G35x (afterall it is the same engine and there's about 0.5 sec difference in 0-60 mph times, if you're into that), but the G35x feels much more torquier and because of the 5-speed transmission on the G versus the 4-speed in the Max, the G35 is a lot swifter and responsive. On the other hand, the Maxima is a few notches below in the handling department. So, yes, the Maxima may be able to keep up with the G, but it will not be able to "beat" the G in any acceleration runs if we compare the autobox.

Body wise, the only two differences between the G35x and the G35 is the extra cooling duct opening in the middle of the front bumper below the front licence plate in the G35x and that the G35x rides about 0.4" higher than the G35.

i have an 05x and i just test drove the new 07 maxima for the hell of it. I can tell you that me and my friend were not impressed with the maximas handling at all. the torque steer was very noticeable and quite annoying. As far as acceleration it did not seem faster. Maybe due to the car not being broken in..It seemed slower than my X. My friend noticed that as well. Im sure it cant be that much of a difference but it was noticeable. After having my X for about a year and a half you get used to it and forget how well it drives overall. This test drive of the maxima made me realize that.

The only difference in the body of the X and the regular one is that the front bumper on the X has an openeing between the two normal ones. This is for cool air to flow to the front differential of the AWD for cooling. The X is going to be a little bit slower just because of the weight the AWD system adds. The gas mileage should be very similar. And yes they do have telescoping steering wheels (where the gauge cluster moves with the steering wheel.)

Yes, but if you only compare features to features, the Maxima is actually better, the Max has more gadgets and it's rommier. That was why I got a Maxima as my first car rather than the G35 back in 2003. That's how someone would justify buying a Maxima over an Infiniti. The Maxima has things like a heated steering wheel, rear sonar parking sensors, power folding and auto-dimming outside mirrors, etc. etc. But I am sure with the new 2007 G35, things could change a bit in favour of the G35 in terms of gadgets.

Exaclty, I mean, everyone I tell that Im thinking bout the 06 max and 06 g35x, they automatically go "the g35x, are u a dumass" I mean, the maxima really isnt that bad...And easily ( in my own opinion) has a better system then any infiniti...One of you said " this is the g35x, what do you think, yes it has it" well I mean, the dash for the g35 is way uglier then the maxima..Maxima has that lcd screen, sure its not navi, but looks way better then nuttin...Thanks guys..Also, why do almost all of the g's I look at, not have a spoler ( 06 that is)

Because a lot of people including myself think it looks cleaner without a spoiler. It is just a personal preference thing.

kk cool, Im hopefully gonna get the 06g35x, or g35..Still not sure, I mean x is awd, but in philly you dont really need it, and its a bit slower...So the only difference is the front bumper, I wont be doing any body mods what so ever, just rims, black out taillights, and maybe a jl sub...and tints..Even though I would like a aero kit, just dont think its worth the money, and what not, and I dont even think there is one for 06..I believe there is a front lip for it though, does anyone here have a 06x or g with the frontlip...Please post pics!

Not true, I have fun with my x all year long. Most time the x will drive like RWD until you hit some bump or patch of water/snow/ice.

It really feels like driving RWD that my friend has. The only thing I miss is the stick.
