Loaner VS. my own car

Just dropped off my car to get a bunch of squeeks and creaks fixed. Got an 05x.. I like my interior more, except these gauges are cooler. I noticed the shifting is alot quicker on this car than mine, and I already realized that before any comparison. What the hell can I do to my tranny!?! I can't race like this, ugh.

On a positive note, my car starts alot quicker and smoother than the loaner.

DieselX - I know what you mean..I have an '04 and have had '05x and '06X loaners and the car feels much quicker than mine. I know of two factors that make this possible....1) more HP (not big difference though) and 2) gear ratio's are different and the car shifts quicker (rev's are higher than our '04's and lower. Did you use the manumatic yet? It rev matches when downshifting...I don't think our cars have that...unless if it does, it doesn't work very well.

Yea I used the manumatic, and it's very responsive, until mine, which I don't even bother using.

I just remembered... when listing my "problems" with the car, I told them my gas mileage is horrible. He asked what is it, and I told him 10mpg. He's like, "oh that's normal.. 10-15", I'm like "I'll be happy with 15!" lol

Isn't that false advertisement from Infiniti? The motherfcking EPA states 19 for city driving! Well I live in New York CITY and every seems to get below 15.

Sarcasm!!

How can you blame Infiniti for what the ever-lovin` Feds say your mileage should be? Be careful! Keep saying you are only getting 10 mpg, and the wacko green po-po from the EPA might take you in for violating their edict! Everybody knows the Feds can`t be wrong!
FWIW, I haven`t managed to get 20 mpg from my X, and I live in the boondocks, and rarely exceed 85 MPH. But, I`m keepin quiet about it.

I have an '05x so I want to compare with your thoughts.

How did you find the manumatic shifting from 2nd to 3rd?
- I find that on mine it clunks into 3rd and is not very smooth at all, sometimes it is but most times it's not, especially if I am hard on the gas. It doesn't do it in any other gear shift but the one from 2nd to 3rd and it doesn't do it when in full auto.

How did you find the road noise, especially above say 70mph?
- I find mine noisier then expected but I think it's the tires more then anything. Might have to get then rebalances and still after the winter.

The EPA test is not even close to real world. My G35x get's around 17-19 in town if I drive like my Granny.

They are all noisy. At 70 there is a ton of road noise in my opinion. A few folks have added B-Quiet insulation. I'm sure it would help. That and maybe some actually fender liners-

10 mpg is ULTRA low, especially for RWD. I live in NYC and I get 15mpg in my X. I had a RWD loaner (04 or 03, I dont remember) and the thing just SIPPED gas (compared to my X) maybe your airfilter needs replaceing....who knows

Bah who cares about the MPG! I want to know how Infiniti got more power for the 05 when there's no big mechanical changes? Still only has intake cam VTC. Everything should be indentical. Unless there's a big diff in cam profiles. But I doubt it. man we need a good discussion. It's too difficult to get a good search "read" on this issue.

Maybe it's mostly gearing and rear end ratio?
