tire pressure sensor

well all, this morning, i started up my car and a warning indicator came on. I was dazed and suprised that it turned out to be the tire pressure was low. i went to the gas station pumped it to 50psi and was on my way with the warning indicator gone.

well, i'm getting 19 inch tires now, so will the tire pressure sensor still work? and will it still give me an indicator warning in the dash? or will it just do nothing?

thanks everyone.

You will need to have your sensors put in the new wheels. They activate the warning light when your tires have 28lbs or less in them.

UHH 50PSI? ...aren't you worried about your tire blowing up when it heats up?

My 20" tires can hold 50psi. I run them 38-40 most of the time. I tried 35 but they started to wear even faster on the inside.

Damn....50 psi is usually the max...damn that must be a firm ride...kinda risky!

Da mayor - when I had my TPS's put in my Milano's by the dealership, I asked them to reprogram them to increase the min. PSI setting (to like 32 or so) and they said it cannot adjusted? I know you work at a dealership & wasn't sure what you knew that they dont?

Yeah I would stay away from the max. 40psi is a good place for wear and a firm ride.

Actually that depends on the tires. If the max is only 44 then I would run ~37-38. If the max is 50 then I run 40.

What's on the sidewall is Maximum safe inflation pressure, not what is recommended for service.
Your sedan should be around 30. I ran mine about 33-35 tops.

You'll need new sensors for the new wheels which will then have to be initialized by the dealer.

C.
