will this setup work?
will this setup work?
im picking up my 06 g35x in a few hours....a friend of mine told me he would sell me his rims for real cheap, just to get rid of them. 19' HP lightning silver rims, 5x114.3...19 x 8.5 38 offset with 235/55/19 tires. Sorry for the newb question, i did a search and couldnt find anyone running these tires so I assume they are no good. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!
I think you're safe with those rims & offset; however, not sure about the wheels...I don't have my calculator to convert mm to inches, but I believe those tires w/ 19" rims may put you way over OEM diameter.
I'm running 245/40/19's on 19" wheels, and I'm slightly larger than OEM diameter, but it works, as it's within 2%. 245/40 tires have a wheel sidewall height of 98 mm and 235/55 tires have a height of 129 mm. My quick math puts that at a 3 centimeter difference (and that's just one side, so you'd have to multiply by two (2), giving you a total diameter of 6 cm bigger than OEM...now that I say that, you sure 235/55 isn't a typo? Those are like SUV tires!
Let me know.

For the example above, a 245/40/19 would amount to this:
245 X.4 = 98mm
(98X2) + (25.4 X 19) = 678.60mm

For the example above, a 245/40/19 would amount to this:
245 X.4 = 98mm
(98X2) + (25.4 X 19) = 678.60mm

Are you sure? I'm not challenging that you're right or wrong, but just want to make sure I'm calculating it right. I think there may be an error in your stock diameter calculation. Here's my math:
STOCK 215/55/17 yields 118.25mm sidewall = 4.66 in. = 26.3 in total
AFTER 245/40/19 = 98mm = 3.86 in. = 26.72 total
or in Metric like you have it:
STOCK 215/55/17 yields 118.25mm sidewall, therefore (118.25 x 2) + (17 x 25.4) = 668.30 mm diameter
AFTER 245/40/19 = 98mm sidewall, therefore (98 x 2) + (19 x 25.4) = 678.60 mm diameter
