Rear Bumper Melting from exhaust

I went to a car show today and saw a sedan with an aftermarket exhaust. Not sure what kind it was but I noticed that the heat was causing the rear bumper to melt. Anyone with an aftermarket exhaust have this happen to them?

I think it is just a really bad installation. Set it too high or too far out towards the bumper. Do it (or get it done) right and you should have no issues.

pretty sure its the hks exhaust. it seems like that rear bumper/diffuser isnt OEM, may be made of different material, maybe urethane or somethin

That's a prototype JIC exhaust system on Pnut's car. The reason for the rear lip melting is obviously an issue with the positioning of the actual exhaust. Pnut seems like a really detail oriented guy, so I'm pretty sure that he never mounted that exhaust that way, and some kind of accident happened...

I bet a spacer on the last part before the muffler would fix the problem.

It looks like the nismo rear but I belive he has the full Sportec kit. I don't remember what the rear of that kit looks like.

^Pnut has the nismo rear lip molded on. He only has the Sportec front and sides.

There are some interior shots around here somewhere too.

These are from the big sedan thread.
