G35 Rear Bumper

hi al,
iam new to this board, found this while surfing for info on rear bumpers for G35

i recently bought a used 2003 G35, had a parking lot mishap and my rear bumper is scratched and some paint has peeled off.

please suggest me on the following

1. need i replace the bumper or do i get a paint job, please suggest if the dealers are going to be expenisve or any body shop would do

2. need to reaplce the tires as well, where would i get a good deal, or do you guys say the dealer is the best bet

iam in the dallas-fortworth area, please let me know if there are good places you would suggest around here

Welcome aboard and congrats on the purchase!

Word of advice..make sure you use the search function otherwise everyone will jump on you for being lazy. Seriously.

To answer your questions...Go to a body shop to find out if you need to replace it...don't go to the dealer...they will charge an arm and a leg to replace/repaint it.

If you need to replace it, you may find someone here selling it for cheap or at least try craigslist to find one locally.

Someone here replaced their 03/04 bumper with an 05/06 one...and it looks nice as the lower portion is already painted...and not the black plastic. Of course you need the rest of the lower portions painted (get the nismo kit!).

For the tires...Tirerack.com has great prices and their shipping is cheap and since you're in Dallas, you won't have to pay tax. Some tire shops (wheelworks) will match their prices + shipping...that way you don't have to deal with taking the tires to an installer (I believe that tire rack may actually ship the tires to the local installer for you...not sure though).

Good luck!

+1 to tirerack.com. For rarer sizes I usually use onlinetires.com (located in so cal).

I had a rear bumper repaired and repainted for 300$. A new bumper would cost around 500$ painted/installed. If the damage is minimal a repair would be fine. Any large cracks or rips then I'd get it replaced.

If you decide to go with a new bumper, I have an OEM one that's brand new and unopened, straight from the factory. You can PM me if you're interested.
