You can clean and condition your leather often and it will not do it as bad. It also can be worse depending on how you get in and out of your car. But yes, they all do it and no the dealer will not do anything about it. All cars do it.

The short answer is no, the dealership won't do anything about it because it's a wear and tear issue. HOWEVER, you can ask the dealership to take a look at the bolster pieces beneath the leather. The left bolster is generally the one that looks the worst as it takes the most abuse. The dealership can pull the leather up to see if the bolster failed and replace that individual piece if need be.

My dealership replaced the entire seat bottom under warranty, but that was probably because I have a great relationship with the service manager. On the other hand, he did say that they would have changed out just the bolster piece for any customer with this problem.

Short story: just ask, it never hurts to try.

I bought a product called Leatherique, based on the Infiniti Club website. It seems to be a great product. First you oil the seat, wait for the oil to penetrate the seat and then use their cleaner to finish the job. The seats are soft like new and in excellent condition. I only wish I had found this when the car was new as I'm sure, with regular application, the seats would look completely new. The website is www.leatherique.com.

Do you think this Leatherique stuff is better than the Meguiar's Gold Class Leather Wipes? Any direct head-to-head experience? I like the Meguiar's stuff I use now, but it doesn't seem to stop wrinkles - just keeps the leather good looking and soft.

Good question. I've never used Meguiar's. I have used Lexol and I believe the Leatherique is better. Makes the seat softer and seems to reduce the wrinkling. I am a large person, 280# and 6'-1", so I am probably the worst choice (or best choice depending on your point of view) for wearing out the seat quickly. I have 40,000 miles on my car and the seat looks better than some of the loaners I've driven that have less than 10K miles.

I think your 300Z is more of the shock. Maybe materials have changed that much is 17 years...

My past 5 cars have done it and if you knew me, I take great care of them. My friend's last two Audi S4's have done it. My 4 friends who all have BMW M3's (E36 and E46) all have seats that do it. My mom and day get a new car every two years and all their cars do it (most of them are Chevy/GMC trucks and BMW cars). I was a high-end custom car audio installer for a few years and almost all the luxury cars we worked on over 1 year-old had leather wrinkles.

I've used Lexol and not had any luck keeping the bolster or seat bottom pieces from cracking and looking like crap. I'll be at the dealer soon as my 4 year warranty has 2 month to go and I bet they'll balk at replacing them. With 36k miles it's too early to look this bad. There was a thread several months ago about the correlation between weight and seat wear/wrinkling. I am 240 and my seat looks like it...
