Rumours of a "G37"?!!
the GTR and the G coupe are two completely different animals. It's like saying BMW should discontnue the 3 series coupe because they make an m3.
I think they are going to have to up the displacement to compete with the upcoming IS coupe and the 335
Again it's all speculation

did you guys hear the rumor of the GX996? apparently porshe and infiniti are teaming up to create an ultimate AWD TT MONSTER! It's gunna have the 996 engine and the concept coupes body! I can wait till it comes out in 2090!
It probably doesn't mean a thing, but I noticed on the new G Sedan commercials they refer to it as a G not a G35.

As a marketer myself, it seems like they are shifting focus away from the "35" portion and building equity into just "G". In my field, we usually start developing mindshare about one year before a product ships. So, its a high possibility that they will introduce a new model/number (i.e. "37") in the near future (i.e. 1-2 years).
It would be a misstep for them to take away equity from G35 at this stage considering how much they have built up the model. That is unless they had a bigger objective such as building out several iterations of the G - G37, G40, G45???. So to me, they are building recognition for the "G" platform vs. the numbers that follow.
On the other hand, they maybe just trying to reinforce that there is a new "G"...so that no one confuses it as the same ol "G35".
That's my $.35
