the connecting rods as stated in lexusk8's post are the same thing as the rear sway bar end links. not the same as the front compression rods.

Today I got my car back from the dealer and had the compression rods from the front replaced under warranty. Here's the receipt:

Customer states there is a squeaking when going over bumps. Found compression rods bearings have excessive play. Replaced compression rods.

COMPRESSION ROD, FRO-54469-AC70F $173.15
BOLT-STOPPER, 40038-AL510 $6.79
ROD COMPL-COMPRESSIO, 54468-AC70F $173.15
BTW, the '05 G35 loaner I was lent for a couple days does have that similar squeaking noise in the front when going over speed bumps. I'm sure this issue is more obvious on the loaner vehicles since they are typically driven hard.

Back in May, the tech told me that they can fix it but that it's going to keep coming back. I'm worried about having to fix this issue after my warranty runs out. Infiniti has to resolve this problem.
Its really an issue with the type of rubber bushings they use on the compression rods, not the compression rods themselves. And it well keep coming back until Infiniti looks for another material or supplier for bushings, they can grease them all they want.Infiniti should step up to the plate and have a recall on this part.

Orlando Infiniti. They've been very good to me for service work and quality of customer service (better than the experience with my previous Lexus).

$780 for compression rods??

My dealer quoted me $780 for compression rods last night (installed, of course... so kind) for my wife's 2003 G35 with 87K miles. Yikes!

Any aftermarket recommendations??

damn that's crazy expensive. i got mine serviced under warranty a few weeks ago. i hope infiniti comes up with an appropriate solution soon. btw, you don't need to actually replace the rods, just the bushings that the rods use. that should save you a lot of $

That's technically correct, but the question is whether the bushing parts are available separately from Infiniti or other supplier. I don't believe they are available from Infiniti that way. Anyone know?

How does this affect the performance or handling of the car if you don't get them replaced? Is it dangerous?

My understanding is the the problem is strictly noise, and there are not any mechnical or structural issues.
