Clean GPS integration with Bose Audio?

Hi all,

I just bought a black-on-black 2006 sedan a month ago. It was more important that I get the sport kit / suspension and premium package than the GPS (the trifecta was impossible to find), but now that I have the car, I want the GPS, too!

I'm actually a fan of the Infiniti GPS system, mainly for the large pop-up motorized touchscreen. I was wondering if anyone knew of an aftermarket system that would integrate into the dash cleanly, wouldn't cost an arm and a leg, etc? I can always perch a Garmin Nuvi somewhere, but I'd like a cleaner look / install...

Thanks,

Salil

Another (cheaper) option.

I've seen some salvage yards selling online the OEM Nave system 05-06(screen, DVD) for anywhere between $750 to $1500 (Grade A - meaning coming from a vehicle with less than 60k miles).

I would figure that since you have the premium/sport packages, Infiniti wouldn't pull out special wires and harnesses for the GPS just because you didn't opt for it. It is optional after all. It would be too expensive for the manufacturer to make major changes to adapt to it. So supposedly it should just "drop" right in. Of course, you'll have to take out your console, your dash, and then you need to make sure that you wire everything correctly. I don't know if anyone has tried it before but it seems like the juice isn't worth the squeeze.

That's why most people will suggest other options...especially since you can get more functionality out of other cheaper and easier alternatives (i.e. carputer...etc.).

I would like to at least see some photos of one person trying it (OEM Nav install)...just to see if it was possible. This to me is like the Donkey show in TJ, everybody claims it exists, but nobody has personally seen it.

why does it say "Compatible with 2005/2006 Infiniti G35s only!" ?

and then it shows a 2003-2004 model in the pics?

does it fit a 2003 g sedan?

Type in G35 in the search and it shows the same thing + for the early years.

You can not add stock Navi to a non-navi car.

The harnesses are different. The main vehicle harness would have to be replaced. That is a $1500 part, special order from japan. One dude did it, it was a multi-week project.

I'm calling you out on "Donkey show." If you have proof, attach a link. "One dude did it" doesn't fly.
