Newbie questions

I have an 06 6mt sedan with sunroof, spoiler and mudflaps. No premium package. I love the car and have the following questions for the mavens:

1. Can I purchase and install I-pod connectivity from Infiniti dealer?

2. Can I purchase and install sirius original system on non-bose radio?

3. Can I purchase and install homelink mirror?

4. I would like to install aftermarket exhaust. Borla or Stillen stage2? I read the forum and the answers were all over. I would like a fairly quiet exhaust without annoying resonance.

5. Should I use Amsoil given the burning issues of the 3.5 rev-up. Perhaps a lower thermostat would do?

Thanks for your input.

Hi -
On the ipod, I'd recommend the USA-Spec PA-11NIS. It connects directly to the factory head unit and allows you to use the steering wheel controls to control your ipod. You can pick one up at www.discountcarstereo.com.

For satellite, I don't believe you can do that if you have the ipod connector installed -- it uses the same harness on the back of the head unit. The PA-11NIS has an aux input, though, so you could install an aftermarket Sirius unit and connect it that way.

The homelink mirror can be installed, you'll just need to run some wires for power.

When i was at the dealer this past weekend buying my car they were saying that they would charge an arm and an leg installing the satellite compared to the one that came with the factory already.

1. Can I purchase and install I-pod connectivity from Infiniti dealer?
No, but you can add one aftermarket

2. Can I purchase and install sirius original system on non-bose radio?
Yes

3. Can I purchase and install homelink mirror?
Yes, aftermarket. I got one off another G from ebay and added a harness to make it work on my car.

4. I would like to install aftermarket exhaust. Borla or Stillen stage2? I read the forum and the answers were all over. I would like a fairly quiet exhaust without annoying resonance.
If you want quiet and less drone, go with the Borla.

5. Should I use Amsoil given the burning issues of the 3.5 rev-up. Perhaps a lower thermostat would do?
Don't know how much that will help except you will be burning more expensive oil. Add a JWT or Stillen spacer to give you an extra qt in your pan so if you burn some it's ok.
