Those of you who are out of warranty...

Would you say your G has been pretty reliable past your warranty period, or have you had to get any extensive repairs done?

Reliable, but I'm not the type of person to wait until something breaks, I usually do preventative maintence.

So far, I have heard:

3rd brake light going out
motor for power seat going out
power window switches
CD jams can't eject.

Of course some people got lucky and got those fixed under warranty... while others were left to pay the bill...

I've only had one issue since the new vehicle warranty expired on 12/31/06, and that is the SES light (which turned out to be error code P0456, refer to original thread here). The light is still on, and I haven't found the means to figure out the source of the problem..

Are you trying to decide whether to get an extended warranty or not?

I've got at least a few months to decide on that, but that is part of it. Seeing if it's worth it when time comes, or if it may be a waste of money. Also just trying to get a general idea of the longterm reliability of our G's. I'm new to the G35. Recently bought a 2004 6-speed sedan--only had it for about a month. Previous car was a 5-speed 1995 Maxima that I had for 8 years and aside from fuel injector replacements when it was under warranty, the car ran like a gem...and I admit I abused it just about every day...

Welcome to the 04' 6-speed world!

My biggest concern is the tranny. There are problems with the synchros and nissan has replaced 1,000's of them. I'm on #2 myself. If the tranny goes it's not going to be cheap. If you are not considering boosting your car, I would get the extended warranty. I was going to get one but I know if my tranny goes again they will not give me a 3rd now that I have a TT kit. They were ok with my Stillen SC but this is even more power and they have to take off the wastegates to change the tranny.

Had a problem with the parking brake when the car was under warranty. I haven't had the new car warranty (or the whatever the 4 year warranty is called) for about 4 months now and have not had a problem yet. I've only had the car for about 16 months.

Had to pay $975 to replace the spark plugs and replace the valve covers. Had to replace the Fuc*ing cd changer twice, once under warranty, once out of my pocket. Automatic window no longer working properly. Brakes.... another story. I'm thinking Lexus for my next auto? I'm at 90K miles now....

Wait a minute! $975 for spark plugs and valve covers?!?!?!!? Where was the majority of the cost? Labor? What was the breakdown in price for this service?
