Lease end, and mod removal observations...
Well, I'm close to no longer being a member of your family... My 2004 G35's lease is almost at its conclusion and I'll be turning in my trusty Sedan in favor of... well... I haven't decided yet. Almost 65,000 miles on the odometer and I've loved every damn inch of each of those miles.
This last weekend I removed my AEM Intake, and the Grounding Kit that I'd made with love for my precious G.
The removal of the intake is oh-so-noticable. I'd forgotten how quiet my engine was with the stock intake... especially having had the intake on for so long, it's almost hard to know when to change gears now when I get on it Definitely a mod I wouldn't live without.
What really surprised me though is after I removed the grounding kit... The engine idles much rougher now and the MOST noticable thing... it actually takes a couple more cranks of the starter to start the engine. In fact, the starter is noticably 'weaker'. It doesn't sound as strong and solid when you turn the key and the lights (in and out) dim when cranking the engine. I have to say I don't think I really noticed that stuff when I put the grounding kit ON, but I sure as heck notice it now it's gone.
Well guys, it's sure been a fun ride. I'll really miss my G... I think it's time for me to buy something a little cheaper now while trying to maintain that level of fun. Will be tough but it's gotta be done. Just know that when you blow my doors off on the highway, much as I'd like to run with you, I'll no longer be able to, and a single tear will run down my cheek.
Much love....

lol... the '07 is tempting... buying it back - less so The residual value is like $17k... I think for a 2004 6MT with 65k miles on it I'd have a hard time justifying that... could probably pick up a used 05 for about the same with way less miles on it.
But really I'm looking for a cheap toy. Maybe I'll buy a used miata or something and slap a turbo on it. I could prolly get a turbo for a car like that for the same price I've been spending on tires for the G
BTW, if anyone's in the market for an AEM intake in the DFW area PM me.
Now... if the dealership told me to take the G off their hands for $10k I'd be all over it Just very unlikely
