The G35 2wd sedan is a bit lighter (~50lbs) than the coupe. The coupe posts up 1/4 mile and 0-60mph times that are nearly 0.5 seconds quicker in most road tests with the same transmission. Any ideas as of why? Do the coupes really put down more actual power to the wheels?

I'm not concerned with a few tenths for a daily car, but I was curious.

let me try to give my 2cents:

Tires play a major factor in 0-60 and quarter mile, where if you get a good launch, you might be able to shave up to .5 off your quarter mile time when compared to a bad launch... In this aspect, I don't think the crappy turzana on our sedan can give you a good lauch when compared to the high end Michelin Pilot Sport (I wish PS2 comes stock tho!!) that comes stock on the coupes

 

If you took the time to post, why didn't you put the keywords?

 

Look at the true 1/4 mile times from this site and you'll see that the coupes are not faster.

Major auto magazines actually post the 03-06 sedans as ~ 6 second for 0-60 and 14.5, 97 for quarter mile

Yet, I do agree that members on this board post better numbers or at least similar numbers to coupes

 

Looks like a ****ty driver in the coupe lol.

They need to compare 04 auto sedan VS 04 auto coupe... and 06 auto sedan vs 06 auto coupe.. same goes for manual. In the end, I think they're almost the same speed, maybe .1 second difference.

Looking at that diagram, I think they messed up the coupe and sedan sections. Besides the speed traps and tranny's, look at the braking distance. 171 for coupe and 151 for sedan. That year coupe on stick came with Brembos, so no way the sedan stopped faster. Anyone disagree?

And the X times look off aswell. Maybe it was with the snow button on. I dunno...

 

The Brembos never offered better stopping distance, often times it was a feet longer. Bigger brakes don't necessarily mean better stopping. Now if you're road racing with lots of 120 to 70mph braking, then yes, the Brembos would be better.

 

Yeah, I've seen 14.4s@96mph posted for the G35X by Car & Driver.
