Re: 0-60 time = Sedan vs. Coupe 6MT

depends on who is driving it. The best times I have seen are 5.5 for the coupe MT and 5.6 for the sedan MT. there is much speculation that the sedan MT puts out the same horsepower as the MT coupe.

I'd think you'd make the decision between 2 or 4 doors before you even go car shopping.. 0-60 shouldn't be the final deciding factor.

he's thinking of the Sedan, but he doesn't want to sacrifice too much performance. 5.6 sounds really good for a 4door. was this from motor trend?

Re: 0-60 time = Sedan vs. Coupe 6MT

I would really hope your friend would find better reasons than a possible fraction of a second difference in the 0-60 times to make his final decision. Both are great cars. Many people find the coupe has more "wow" factor in the looks. Other than that, the sedan wins hands down. Just as fast, room for four adults in comfort, better factory stereo, costs less on the initial purchase, insurance costs are less, bigger trunk by far, same warranty/service, better power seat features make it easier to get into and out of the sedan.

If he is in love with the coupe's looks, and doesn't like the sedan as much, or doesn't need the sedan's nicer features, then the coupe makes sense. If he likes the sedan's looks anywhere close to as much, then the sedan just makes more sense.

Either way I think he will be pretty happy!

For the Sedan 6MT I believe Automobile got a 0-60 in 5.6sec (in a group test) and Car & Driver got a 5.7sec. It is very close to the Coupe in acceleration, but the Coupe just looks a lot faster...

I think the Sedan is 150lbs lighter than the Coupe (varies depending on options).

If you get the aero kit for the sedan (has the front bumper, side skirts, wing), I think the sedan resembles the coupe very closely. The front bumper is what makes the biggest difference in my mind. Get the sport suspension, throw on some sweet wheels, do a couple of small mods, and it will perform like the coupe as well. Plus it's lighter than the coupe.

My thoughts exactly, maybe the advertised H.P. #s are correct, it's the weight advantage that brings the sedan #s close to the coupe. Infiniti want's the coupe to be top dog, I kind of wish they gave the 6 M.T. sedan the same H.P. I think they would sell more, most people need a sedan more than a coupe. Are you listening Infiniti?

they could easily sell twice more G35 if they gave the sedan the same HP as the Coupe. I hope they will bump up 10 HP and 10 torque sedan next year.

Re: 0-60 time = Sedan vs. Coupe 6MT

I think they're selling more this way. More people do need a sedan. need being the operative word. Thus, to be able to sell the more expencive coupe, they need a gimmick. That gimmick is the 20 extra ponies. However, as people are saying, the 6MT sedan may have those extra ponies- for whatever reason. There is a differesnt engine setup for the auto sedan (mechanical cooling fan.)
I'de be willing to bet that the only difference between the 6mt sedan and the coupe engine is a computer program and exhaust.
But please SOMEONE lets prove it. Is there anyone with a 6MT coupe, stock, in or around Chicago who want to do back to back dynos?
Save that, I may try to convince my dealer to reset my ECU with the coupe prog. Probably not even worth a try, but I'll see.

BTW, I realize that the infinity website states that the coupe has microfinished intake something or another, but the sedan could have it too. Its not lying to not state that the sedan has the same feature, just holding back to make the coupe look better.

Re: 0-60 time = Sedan vs. Coupe 6MT

This was brought up a while back. A Sedan 6MT owner dynoed his car at 238.7 RWHP. This is what coupe owners are seeing. With a drivetrain loss of 15-18% I think it's very possible that the 2003.5 6mt has 280 hp at the crank

Re: 0-60 time = Sedan vs. Coupe 6MT

This is getting interesting, but I would of thought that the drivetrain loss was more than that, due to the rwd, my Hondas was 22% being a front driver and less energy transfer loss.

Re: 0-60 time = Sedan vs. Coupe 6MT

wasn't that on some goofey dyno? I want a side by side, so the room for desparity is less. I want apples to apples. Maybe in the summer (if I'm not modded by then)
