radiator cap negative-pressure valve

kailep, check the radiator cap. I just checked and the valve (the metal piece at the bottom) was pretty stuck with deposits. I pulled it out and washed it. Now it's moving a lot better. I'm going to drive the car tomorrow - hopefully this will solve the problem. See attached pic (instruction)

mfung, I guess my situation is exactly like yours. Mine was tough to remove. Once the cap is off, the tube expanded and the bottom metal piece is also got stuck w/ some orange goo. It doesn't look like rust, at least I hope it's not. It was late so I just wipe it off whatever I can. I'll clean it over the weekend to see how it goes.

yes - the orange thing. I got the same crap there. I washed (flushed) it well for like half an hour and made sure the valve was moving up and down freely. The car has been fine since then. I bought a STANT replacement. So i will keep that handy in the compartment.
