Side Markers- Mod to make them blink
I saw reference to this mod barried inside another post and thought I would bring up to the front.
Its an easy install that took me about 1 hour and cost about $4.00! Thats right 4 bucks!
Infiniti did not choose to make the side markers (clear corners for some) blink when the turn signal is engaged. This mod gives you the option of doing just that, without loosing the functionality of when the turn signal is not turned on.
Here are the steps and even video of what the mod looks like after done.
http://www.6mt.net/shop/sidemarker.asp
The install is for a coupe but is identical for the sedan.
If you do the mod, let others know how easy it was on this post.
HAPPY MODDING!

Re: Side Markers- Mod to make them blink
Recently, I posted some additional tips over on FreshAlloy.com. I thought I'd repost them here for anyone who's planning on doing this:
1. As others have said, you can do this with the wheel on if your hands aren't too big. A high frustration tolerance also helps.
2. Be careful when you remove the liner fasteners. Slide a flat head screwdriver blade under the head of the "rivet" and lift it gently, otherwise you'll break it. (I partially broke the head off one.)
3. I removed only three front plastic fasteners and a couple of screws and bent the liner back to reveal the working area.
4. Unless you have a lot of direct sunlight, you'll need a good flashlight or another light source. It's dark in there.
5. Given the cramped quarters with the wheel on, I can't imagine doing this without wire taps. (Props to anyone managed it without one.) I also decided to extend the black wire with about 6 inches of 18 gauge wire. With the wheel off and the liner more completely removed, you can get by without this.
6. I began by placing one end of the extension into the upper channel of the tap. To help it stay put, I bent the end of the wire slightly before inserting it (see images).
7. Next, I slipped the bottom channel of the tap over the intact turn signal wire, which was green/yellow on both sides in my car. Once I had identified the green/yellow wire and separated it from the others, I was able to do this with one hand by feel. Then I closed the blade and the tap with a pair of pliers. It's really important to make sure that the extension wire (or the end of the original black wire, if you forego the extension) doesn't slip out before you finish. If this happens, which it did to me, you'll need a second tap on that side.
7. Finally, I attached the free end of the extension to the cut end of the black wire with a crimp fastener, and closed everything up.
To show you what I mean by bending the extension to help it stay in the tap, take a look here. The other picture in the album shows both wires in place in the tap. (I had to Photoshop the bottom one, since all I had was black wires.)

Re: Side Markers- Mod to make them blink
OK, so I have 2 questions.
1. Will this shorten the life span of the sidemarker bulb because it is blinking constantly?
2. According to the link above, the install is identical to the coupe except that the wires are green with a yellow stripe on BOTH sides. Correct? This color wire will allow the corner lights to stay on when they are not blinking, vs. the other version of this mod where the corner lights DO NOT stay on when the rest of the lights are on (meaning that their only funtion is turn signal lights). Thanks
I just want to make sure that they will still act as parking lights as well as turn signals when I am done with this.

Re: Side Markers- Mod to make them blink
Sorry to double post this khsonic03 since I returned your PM, but others need to read this.
No. The colors were purple wire with a white stripe for the passengers side and green with a white stripe for the drivers side, as per the instructions on the 6mt.net website. See link
www.6mt.net/shop/sidemarker.asp I do not know the concequences for splicing in the wrong wires. Also as a side precaution, disconnect the battery before performing ANY electrical system modifications. Hope this helps, and good luck!
This mod takes 5 minutes to perform, but takes an hour to get to the wiring. The hour however, was well worth it.

Re: Side Markers- Mod to make them blink
What he said :-)
I just did this mod yesterday and the color is Green/White on the drivers side and Purple/White on the passenger side.
As mbarrad posted, use the instructions at www.6mt.net/shop/sidemarker.asp
After the mod is done, you will have the FULL functionality of the side markers as you did before the mod and blinkers after the mod is performed. The instructions above are for this exact setup. If you use any of the other colored wires, it may not work as desired. The vids on the link show the sidemarkers with the lights OFF and the sidemarkers with the lights ON. The only difference is when you have the lights OFF, the sidemarker and blinker, blink in unisen. When you have the lights ON, the sidemarker and blinker, blink opposite each other (sidemarker blinks, then the blinker blinks). Peep the vid.
As for wear on the bulb, im sure the buld isnt too expensive to replace so its worth the shortened life for me, if there is any at all. :-)
Thanks mbarrad for the safety tip. Appreciated
Happy modin!!

Re: Side Markers- Mod to make them blink
I got this mod done in about less than an hour, once you pop open a side in regards to the lining the other side is a piece of cake. This mod is so fast to do it's really worth it. I want to emphasize that there is really one wire to cut, and that is the black wire on both sides, the actual taps for passenger side as stated before would be the green/white, and the driver side, would be the purple/white. I didn't have to take my wheels off to do this I might add. I have pretty long fingers and it worked out great. The actual main head lamp though where the tap wires are concerned there is not much slack, so be patient, and it would be worth it. Next I want to change the bulbs to white ones, instead of the stock orange color. Anyone know where I can purchase white replacements ones, and if doing this would be against California law.

Re: Side Markers- Mod to make them blink
Okay fellas. Some of you are saying the color of the wire on the passenger side is Green/White and others are saying it Purple/White. On page LT-106 in the service manual, it's Purple/White. I'm confused. Which is it? Remember this is for the Sedan.
