Re: New Spoiler

So what is the major difference between the factory spoiler and the one you have? Is it lighter?

Re: New Spoiler

If you get the spoiler as an original option from the factory, they don't install a brake light in the rear window, so you don't have that double-middle brake light thing going on.

Re: New Spoiler

If you want to turn off the 3rd brake light (in the back window), here's how:

1. Open the trunk, and take enough clips out of the upper trim to pull it (gently!) off of the sheet metal. Be careful when removing since there is double sided tape on the top edge.
2. The harness for the 3rd brake light will be hanging there right in front of you. Simply disconnect the harness clip.
3. Use duct tape to attach the loose clip to the sheet metal (I learned this the hard way... subwoofer + loose clip = bad rattle).
4. Reattach the trim, pushing the double sided tape area firmly, then putting clips back in.

Hope that helps! It should only take about 10 minutes, and it won't deactivate any other brake lights, just the 3rd one. I prefer this to the 4 brake light look.

By the way, I had my spoiler installed at the dealer, and they never gave me a cover for the 3rd brake light, said it didn't exist and that they didn't know how to turn it off... what a joke, I figured it out in 10 minutes.

Re: New Spoiler

Dave,

I expect to purchase a Dst Plat this Friday/Saturday and really would like to self-install a spoiler like you did. How difficult was it?

Re: New Spoiler

Dave,

Picked up my Desert Plat on Thursday, and I'm ready to order the spoiler from infinitiparts.net but don't have the color code. I know I can find it in the engine bay but was wondering if you had it handy?

If you don't see this message before 5pm EST, I guess I'll just have to wait until I get home to order......

Thanks in advance....Andre.
