Just ordered one myself
Hello to all!
After receiving word from my insurance company, that my 2001 Acura 3.2TL was totalled ir was time to search for a new vehicle. As you might have guessed, I was very interested in the 04 TL. After test driving it, my impressions on it have changed. The cars transmission felt slower than my 01. Eventhough the new 04 has 45 more hp. than my 01, I can honestly conclude that my 01 felt peppier than the new 04. From what I hear, the Type-S owners over at Acura-Tl.com, have formed the same impressions as there cars having even more hp than mine since I had the regular 3.2TL (225hp vs. 260 for the type-s). Then the issue in price came and the delaership wasn't willing to budge much. The best they could do was $1,500 below MSRP which is unsatisfactory as this would be my second Acura purchase from them. I later drove the 2004 Honda Accord EX V6 and felt that it drove better than the 2004 TL and drove more like my 01 TL. The MSRP on the Accord was $26,890 and I could have drove the car home for $24,800, on the road, this including tax and tags. I later drove the 2004 G35 and liked the vehicle as well. After going back and forth between the three delaerships in my area, I was able to negotiate on the price I wanted. Yesterday, I put down a $500 deposit on a 04 graphite sedan with willow cloth. The car will end up costing me $27,700 on the road. This includes tax, tags, and registration. I certainaly feel that this was a good deal since the other two delaerships were $1000 away from this price and couldn't come any closer. I'm curious if there are any other people on this board with a G35 base sedan. I'd also like to hear your opinions on the deal and what you've payed for your cars, on the road. Please include the type of options that you have as well. I'm certainaly glad about my new purchase, but at the same time, a little upset that my Acura was totalled. I was actually looking into the 2003 Type-S left overs and found a few in my surrounding states. However, the price is also higher as they want $28,500 plus tax, tags, and destination. Beacuase of all this, I was pretty much down to two cars; 04 Accord EX V6 and the 04 Infiniti G35 w/ cloth. I could have considered the Maxima which is a great car, but it seems a little too bulky for my tastes. Once again, hello to all and hope we share more thoughts and insights in the future on our vehicles.

Spartus, All I can say is that you made the right choice. Of your three choices, the G35 is the only rear-wheel drive car. You'll soon discover that because of this, the Accord and TL are no match for the G's handling.
I got an 2003.5 Sedan for $31K before tax and license. You can see the specs of my car below. Good luck, good choice.

umm, you have to compare cloth to cloth. Most people here have leather option. Don't get me wrong, the cloth interior is nice, soft, and comfortable. Welcome and sure that you'll be happy with it. Just to warn you, being here (in this forum) is costly! (you have a fast car, that has the potential to go FASTER, and people here can make it happen. at what price, and when to say STOP, all depends on your will power) ENJOY!

what would Leather cost you now and save you on resale someday is the question you need to ask yourself. I would get Leather at a minimium and would suggest a sunroof as well. Enjoy whatever you end up with!

Re: Just ordered one myself
Part of the reason I got the G35 was because I had the option of getting cloth. I had leather in my previous vehicle (01 TL) and also in a few other cars that I've owned and think it get's a little hot in the summer and takes sometime to warm up in the winter. My only regret is not being able to opt. for the sport package as well as a sunroof on this vehicle. But then again, I drive on the highway most of the time and in the summer time when it gets hot a humid over here on the east coast, I have the A/C on. The ride is probably also a little more comfortable on the beltway w/o the sports package. I haven't driven a vehicle with a sport package yet and would like some feedback comparing both sport and w/o sport package models ride...what are the strengths and weaknesses of both?
P.S. From what I've seen, it seems that my vehicle is pretty rare on this board considering I have cloth. Any other members with cloth on this board?

Re: Just ordered one myself
All you guys are lucky, taxes in Puerto Rico sucks, I got my 2003 G35 Sedan Garnet Fire / Leather /Sport Package / Sunroof /Spuiler for $ 41,500.00 the same model 2003.5 price is 44k and the premium /sport without navigation almost 50K. Here in the island a higher msrp means a higher % in taxes.

Re: Just ordered one myself
From what I understand the cloth interior was only offered so Infiniti could advertise a low base price and very few where actually made. If that's what you wanted and you got a good deal then that's great.
If I get a G35 it is definatly at the top of my price range and I would consider a cloth interior, however I would want the 6MT and that requires leather.
98 Maxima SE, 5-speed.
Next car, G35S 6MT?

Re: Just ordered one myself
I have never seen a "cloth" G, there was never one on the dealer's lot here when I was looking, LOL, I looked for over 6 months! I bet you are right about them wanting to make it sound more "affordable" I had also looked at Jaguar X-Tpes, whcih they advertised as "starting at $29k" Never saw one that was less that $38k!

Re: Just ordered one myself
The cloth in the G is actually pretty nice. Very "suede-like" feel and classy. I'm sure these are dependant on what each dealer orders and what they are allotted.
