can i get the full information on the differences between the 04 and 04.5 automatic transmission. Does the 04.5 rev match when you shift down? My friend claims the 04 and 04.5 have the same transmission program. I bet against him

 

they have the same from what i know...i know for sure 05 had the revmatchin change

 

03-04 had no rev match. sorry to say but u lost that bet.

Before I purchased my 2005 G35x ... I did extensive research against the 04. The Downshift RevMatching is ONLY on the 2005+

No, this is an AT thing where the tranny will match the revs when you downshift in manual mode. The 03-04 didn't do this as where the later ones do. We 6MT guys have to rev-match on our own.

From what I know this did not start until 2005 but there may (may...) have been a few late build 04's that got the update but there would not be any documentation on this except for checking tranny models to find out the first part number that did it and see if you can find anyone with an 04 who has that later part number.
