there is NO replacement for Nissan J Matic ATF. if you want to use something else then by all means be my guest but dont cry when you have to replace your $4000 tranny.

Let me ask you this... what oil do you use in your G35 because the manual calls for using mineral/dino oils only... I supposed my engine will need to be replaced soon because I use Amsoil right? There is nothing special about Nissan J Matic fluid... it meets certain specs and is a synthetic blend... this Castrol ATF meets or exceeds the same specs and will work fine and is much cheaper... paying $10 a quart for a synthetic blend of ATF (Nissan J Matic) is ridiculous, Nissan is getting over on the consumer.

an Engine and automatic Transmission are two completely different machines. I use Mobil 1 and you use Amsoil, doesnt matter, oil is oil. Like i said, you can go ahead and use it. But the J Matic isnt all that expensive as everyone seems to think. I'll take the piece of mind with using what is recommended. The castrol you posted is the first i've ever seen of any company saying they've found a J Matic replacement.

If the Castrol Import fluid says it meets or exceeds the specifications of Nissan Matic-J, than Nissan cannot deny you warranty coverage should the tranny happen to blow-up. They legally cannot require you to use Nissan branded parts vs a different branded equivalent, unless they supply said parts for free. This is explicit.

So no crying necessary, because if something happens to your $4000 tranny, Nissan will be replacing it for you if you are under warranty.

I wonder where you can buy this Castrol stuff. Is it special order only? I've never seen it anywhere around here.

I'm broke and this seems like a good replacement. I'll be the test dummy soon, if I can get it around here.

No the dealer won't deny your claim but they might make it a lot harder on you.

What is the cost of peace of mind?
