Going to purchase 04 G35, need advice

Just recently started looking for G35 forums before I went ahead with my purchase of an 04 G35 sedan and this is probably the best forum I have found so far unfortunately.

Before I begin I think the forums really nees a reorganization in to subtopics instead posting everything into one general forum, it would be easy to find where you want to go and ask for help or look for solutions for problems you have if the topics where divided. I guess the G35 community has a while to go before it reaches the hights of other communities.

In any case, I'm thinking of buying one and need advice on what precuations I should take?

I'm going to be doing the following thus far, I hope eventually this thread will become a sticky for the used car buyers of G35 as the advice builds up:
  1. Test drive the car of couse.
  2. Research all the recalls done and make sure the dealer has serviced the car for all the recalls.
  3. Take it to an Infinnity dealership and have them inspect the vehicle.
  4. I heard the brakes for G35 are the biggest issue and get used very quickly, should I ask for new brake pad replacements?

Can anyone else think of any specifics for the 04 G35 sedan that might help me before I make the purchase?

Thanks

You "unfortunately" call this the best forum, and you want this to be a sticky?? Way to go with a 1st impression....I can go on, but....I'm sure others will flame you better than I can....

Not the best way to get answers.

This forum has tons and tons of subtopics, more than enough and you would have found them if you just look before starting a useless thread...

This forum would have to be huge to have the sub-topics you want. We barley get enough posts to fill up this sub-forum.

Not sure if you all visit other forums but I sure do and I have seen real quality ones with good content and format/organization.

I'm giving a suggestion, a contribution and only those that do care about the community may take it seriously and for what it's worth, which is substantial, given you can provide a very friendly and easy experience at the end.

I do own forums, in fact I have 2 of them and I know how to cater to the community. I have expeirence and I speak from experience, so those that reacted it is understandable given you find the format very friendly and inviting and it's probably because you haven't seen anything better.

I deally I would like to see more subtopics covering:
- G35 reliability
- Driving impressions
- Fuel efficiency
- Known problems
- Service experiences from Ininiti

Just organizing the forums so that you don't heavily rely on search engines. A good forum will organize to the point where serches are a last resort. Not everything on the web has to be hard to find especially when you come to a forum that is dedicated to a particular topic, hobby, etc.

In any case it's sad to see everyone offended over suggestions that I think will make the site better and the suggestions where intended to do just that and not attack the community and how it has been living thus far. As I said before there are forums out there that are much more neatly organized and not necessarily car forums.

Hope that clears up my intentions.

I don't think we are offended, more curious as to why you are suggesting a bunch of nonsense when you only have two posts.

I post on 5 or more forums a day and notice that the more sub-forums, the harder it is to get good responses. If you look at some of the other sub-forums here you will see that they only have maybe a page worth of threads all with only 4 or 5 responses. You tend not to go into a sub-forum unless you need to, thus taking away from the responses. It makes sense to have things in a bigger pool so more people can see them and put in their input.

You know I had wrote a response - but I decided just to say this. You don't walk over to your new neighbor's house, tell him his house looks like crap and could be done much better, needs paint, needs a new front door, needs a new roof, and that his wife is ugly, then ask to borrow his lawn mower. Regardless of your intentions to help him "improve his house."

Regardless of how right you think you are, you need a lesson in dealing with people. The info you desire is all here. I searched when I bought and I think it'll be a nice way for you to get acquainted with the site. If there is a better one, go there.

Have a nice day.

Agree to that, so far I can add one more item to the list which I found out today.

If you are buying a used car you need to make sure the warranty isn't void.

If the car wasn't taken in for regular inspection then the warranty is void, I guess you can have the warranty checked from Infinity Canada/USA using the VIN number.

Another thing that can be done is to use Car Fax or some similar tool to find out the history or some information regarding the car such as past accidents.

The running total so far:
1. Test drive the car of couse.
2. Research all the recalls done and make sure the dealer has serviced the car for all the recalls.
3. Take it to an Infinnity dealership and have them inspect the vehicle.
4. Make sure warranty isn't void.
5. Do a Car Fax look up or similar search.

Not offended by your posts, but if you search, I think most of those topics are covered....Not sure where you're from, but here, not taking it in for "regular inspection" does NOT void the warranty--mine had no service history with the dealer when I bought it used and they've worked on it 3 times already under warranty.....And about the organization of this forum--if you look around, you'll see that there's actually TOO MANY subforums....

1. Wow, that is an idea.
2. This forum or Infiniti takes care of that. (If you look search there is a TSB and Recall section).
3. Please spell the name of the car right if you are going to talk $hit to the rest of us.
4. And how do you go about that Mr. know it all?
5. See #1 and 4.

Just my $0.02 but you are quite an @ss for coming on here and saying these kind of things given you have no posts and have obviously not taken the time to look around first.
