How do you fix the drivers seat rattle (squeak)? I've had that for awhile now and I am not sure if I can do it myself. Its an 03 Sedan, but if it is an easy fix I'd love to get rid of that sound

OP - Is/was the rear noise a rattle or a creeking/sqeaking sound. I've got one that happens mostly when the G is put into a situatio where the chassis is being twisted (like turning onto a driveway where one front tire is raised and the others are on the street). It's from the rear, but I can't find it and it is absolutely driving me insane!

Those were the symptoms of mine....only happened @ slow speeds when turning & the car was torsionally flexing. Is that yours as well? If so, this should be your remedy.

Thanks Psedog! And thanks Jimmy!

I will have to check later this week. I do hope that is where the creaking sound is coming from. It's really bugging me to death.

psedog - he has the premium package, so those steps are not all that is involved. He'll have to unbolt each of the rear seats also.

Eric300zx - you'll have to search for the DIY or thread on how to remove the rear seat for the premium package......it's kind of a PITA, but at least you're exorcism of the rattles should be successful I just tried to find it but had no luck...sorry.

Elemental designs website (edead)

v1/v1se is like normal dynamat. v3 is a liquid version. v4 is designed to take care of the higher frequencies that v1se doesn't catch.

Thumbs up The creak is gone!

THANKS OP. I removed the seats and tightened the 8 bolts (4/side). I took a test drive prior to putting the seats back in and the noise/creaking is gone.

Fixed!

Many thanks to the posters for pointing to the offending bolts, I've been chasing this creak for about a year. Tightening these cross members also stiffened the chassis and helped cornering! (OK, I made this last part up ... but it DID get rid of the damned noise).

This forum absolutely ROCKS!

I have all my seats out and was about the say my prayers and put them back in, but now I will try to take the "carpet like" stuff out and see what's behind there. I stopped at that point when i broke one of the little button holders. I can't wait to get home and try it. I was so friggin depressed about the sound that I've been driving my 200K maxima almost exclusively.

FYI, it was those blasted screws that were making the noise for me too. The ones on the right side of the car (looking forward) were so loose that they didn't creek at all, but the ones on the left were just loose enough to allow some creaking with flexing of the chassis. Watch out, though. I broke the bolt on the bottom left of the brace. I hope that doesn't start making noise now. Perhaps I should consider fstb or rstb to try and preempt more chassis flexing noises?

Guys - Per thread #19, I had this same issue. Isn't it really upsetting though, knowing you're buying a luxury imported auto & finding out about an issue like this? I was super pissed off to find out the bolts were loose...I mean come on, how hard is it to engineer & quality control something like this so it doesn't loosen?

I guess robot #248 was having a bad few months, lost some of it's torque. Kinda makes you hope they got all the suspension, brake and steering bolts tightened to spec

I have the same freaking problem you guys are talking about. Before I remove the rear seat, I will take my 2004 G35x to the dealership (still under the bumper to bumper warranty) and have those punks fix it. I hope they will! I'm pretty sure that is the problem, because when I have people sitting in the back seat, the creaking/rattling noise does not occur.
