Hello to all.

I am new to the Forum but have been reading for some time. I am stepping up from my 1990 Maxima SE 5MT to a 2004 G35 sedan 6MT/Brilliant Silver/Graphite/Premium/Aero/Bodykit that I ordered on 12/3/03. My dealer tells me it may be another 2-3 months to get the car from Infiniti. I called Infiniti to inquire why and have not been called back 4 days later. I considered a used 2003 BMW 540i 6MT with 6500 miles but decided I did not want to pay ~$14,000 more than the new G35. I drove the BMW 330i 6MT, the Volvo S60R 6MT and the Audi A4 3.2 6MT and they were great cars but they were all too small with too little room in the back seat for my Family when I was driving (I'm 6'3"). Thanks to all contributors to the Forum whose input helped me decide to stick with Nissan (Infiniti) and the VQ V6. Now I just have to figure out how to get my new car delivered!

Don't they product certain option groups or individual options in batches? If that's true you may have picked a certain combo that wasn't slated for production for awhile. I may be totally wrong, but I have heard of such things. One things for sure, 6mt sedan production is a tiny fraction of overall sedan production, that wouldn't help.

if you're getting graphite interior, silver/graphite is a popular combo, if you did a nationwide search you'd probably find several, my local dealer had 5, 2 with Aero/bodykit when I was buying, but i wanted willow which made it more rare

I tried using the Infiniti website search feature but you have to search by dealer, not by car and I could not find a G35 6MT with the colors and options I want anywhere in LA or Orange Counties and after that I stopped my search. It would much more useful if you could search by the car.

If its a factory order, here's recent deliveries vs. order dates: V orders, Sept. orders started coming in mid-November, but some still not in because of TSB being done at port; Oct. W orders just started coming in, mine is due Jan. 28th. In part depends on where your located; west vs east coast, two weeks or more difference. Normal delivery time 3-4 months.

That would be me - I'm supposed to pick it up today.... Still crossing my fingers, as the dealer said yesterday that it was invoiced, but not put into their warehouse yet (but they were expecting it any minute now)....

 

The thing is, they stack a bunch of cars at the port, and if your car is at the back of the lot, it'll be awhile before they get to it, prep it, and send it to the dealer. Back in Dec '02, my car was "on the ground at the port" and they told me it could arrive at any time.. from tomorrow to several weeks out. It took 2 weeks for me from that point. Of course, part of it was that the options I wanted happened to be already built, on a boat, slated for my dealership.

Hope you get it soon. During those two weeks they just kept telling me it would be in in a couple of days. I know it can be frustrating. Have patience. Your car is on a lot somewhere patiently waiting for you, too. [img]/w3timages/icons/smile.gif[/img]

Yup. I was told that the dealer got the invoice, it was with 5 or 6 other cars, all of which were "stocked in" @ the dealer, but mine wasn't there. Still 24-48 hours away, though....

It's not that far of a ride from the port to the dealer (1 hr in bad traffic), so it should be there.

 

Geez, tell me something I don't know. My car is now more than two weeks overdue their worst-case estimate. The last bit was that since I ordered it with the aero kit, which happens to be installed AT THE PORT?! (probably by drunken sailors) that it would be an additional delay.

I haven't the heart to check where it is again... my last ETA was Feb 3rd and I doubt I'll see it by then.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel you are talking to me directly..(too funny)..I too am having the same problem as you...I WANT MY CAR...November 26, 2003, I piled the whole family in to the van and we went to Infiniti for a test drive. The car seat and baby seat fit fine and after the test drive, my hubby had a smile on his face and said..."Go ahead, buy it"...So I did...I wanted Twilight/6MT/Aero/Premium/Nav...and I think something else (blond moment and it's been a while since I placed the order). My dealer told me he would have to special order from Japan and will put the order in December for january production and I should see the car, end of Feb beginning of March...so there you go..hope this helps and don't feel you are the only one out there with this problem...

p.s..I test drove all the cars you listed and then some before ordering the G35...hehe<P ID="edit"><FONT class="small"><EM>Edited by kfloydlezak on 02/02/04 09:08 AM.</EM></FONT></P>

 

Well it's 2 months and I'm still waiting. I checked into the Cadillac CTS with the new more powerful V6 to see when it would be available with a 6MT and they told me there are no plans for that at this time. I'd be interested in the CTS-V but it will be over 50K so that's not an option. So I'm still waiting...

After I posted my reply to you, I hopped and skipped to the infiniti website...www.infiniti.com and I went to build and locate. Did you try that? They list the dealers stock of cars in your area. Maybe another dealer has the car you are looking for...I checked, and no one seems to have the color and options. Remember, the aero kit can be installed at the dealers...so you could order that and then have them intall it later...just a suggestion...

 

Damn that really sucks I hate the waiting game. I feel your pain man I counldn't wait for a car to be ordered so I just grabbed the one I saw on the dealer lot. Goodluck I hope you get it soon.

I did a seach on the Infiniti website "Build and Locate" but couldn't find my car within 300 miles which includes more than 15 dealears in the LA/OC area. I don't want to buy a 6MT without the bodykit and add it later. If the 6MT with bodykit is hard to get, I can't imagine that the bodykit would be easier to get on its own. Has anybody done that? My 1990 Maxima SE is really feeling old...

Hi,

There is a 2003 6mt at Parkway Infiniti in Valencia. It has the full bodykit, chrome wheels, sunroof, and XM. They keep wanting to sell it to me but I want a plain car - no plastic or useless accessories. It's silver with graphite interior.

I'm having terrible luck locating a plain and unmolested base 6mt. The dealer I'm currently dealing with ( 5th ) is supposed to "call the port" today.

We'll see.
