Re: Coupe mid pipe

Where did you get the midpipe for the coupe? And how much was it? I would really love to get this piece for my sedan. I'd rather not cut things up to have a resonator installed. But if it's too expensive then it wouldn't be worth it.

I don't have it. I plan to get one.
First, I want to know, is it make the sedan sound like coupe?

Re: Coupe mid pipe

It will be louder, but the coupe has a totally different exit muffler, so adding the coupe midpipe will not make it sound like a coupe exactly. A 22" magnaflow would be better and cheaper I think. Better yet, just do the whole thing and get a dual X-Pipe cat-back. High-flow cats if you have the need. Then you're done.

Re: Coupe mid pipe

I have a 2.5" In/Out, 22" long, 4" round magnaflow muffler on my car, and in aluminized it's about $50 or so. I have that as the resonator on a custom midpipe, it's pretty big and really helps keep the sound down. Magnaflow's are perforated core mufflers too, so they aren't restrictive at all (if sized properly of course) and so far seem to sound better than most other "generic" application mufflers I've found.

However, we just installed the Borla exhaust on a sedan at the dealership yesterday and those are VERY nice too. Inexpensive, great fitment, simple install and the sound just matches the G35. It's smooth and deep.

Re: Coupe mid pipe

I really enjoyed the 14' Magnaflow on my Expedition. Very nice sound and freed up some ponies. I sold the rig but loved to listen to it rumble. Of course, I wasn't sitting on top of it as I would be in my G. I consider it a less expensive option for the G vs. a full-blown exhaust system. The weight loss alone would be worth it.
