Interior upgrade slated for 2005??

There's a rumor I've seen mentioned on the freshalloy board that Nissan has listened to all the concerns with regard to the interior and is planning a major upgrade for the 2005 model. The source is a guy named DFW_infiniti who apparently works at the Grubbs dealership. Here is what he says:

"Infiniti has been listening to what people have been saying regarding the interior of the G35. You will be happy (or unhappy) to know that for 2005 the interior of both the sedan and the coupe will receive a complete redsign and upgrade.

The people that have seen it have reported that Infiniti will no longer have to take a a back seat (no pun intended) in this department. Many of the amenties that have been requested are being added along with leather and material upgrades"

Here's the direct link to the post:

Anyone else hear any more info or do we just have to wait until it comes out Oct??

You know, I have seen complaints, but I very much like the interior of my G, I think people will seek out things to complain about IMO!

AMEN!

Nothing wrong with an upgrade, but what I have is perfectly fine IMHO. I wonder what the redesign will do to the price?

I remember when so many ppl complained about the 'doggy door' of the 2003. When Infiniti changed it with the 2003.5, it turned out that more ppl like the original style! Oh, well, at least they're listening! (And watching every word you type. Time to get paranoid now!)

I'm very pleased with the interior of my 2004 sedan. However, I'm happy to ear that Infinity is listening to the consumers.

The change of ther trunk was indeed a change for the better. Few that I know think the original style looked good. Most think it looks "weird".

Re: Interior upgrade slated for 2005??

I think it looks better without the doggy door. I have a 2004, what purpose did it serve?
Concerning the interior- Infiniti needs to use more solid plastic. Maybe they need to be thicker so it doesn't give a hollow sound. But coming from a German car the interior does not feel as solid.
2nd - I don't know if other people have this problem. It may be the Graphite interior that does this. The plastic used to house the gauges puts off a nasty glair in the windshield on sunny days. I used a rag to whip off any polishes the dealer may have used. But no luck.
3rd (sorry, I sound like a bitch) I would like the whole instrumentation panel (radio and air) to be angled toward me. I believe it's angles slightly towards the passenger.

If it's a G it's 4 me!

what are all the complaints about? i have the leather interior and like it just fine. it's classy but not overdone or pretentious. a good average between luxury and sport.

I'm with you FLAG35, I think the leather is very nice, and it is a good average between the two!

I'm with FLAG35 and ABQ_G35. I think the interior is fine the way it is.

Coincidentally, my car has that "doggy-door" which I find very helpful when accessing the trunk. I had an '04 loaner the other day and in order for me to raise the trunk, I had to carefully place my fingers between the lip of the trunk and rear bumper making sure not to scratch the rear bumper with my nails. And I'm a guy with average sized nails. I just fine it more convenient having the "doggy handle". And to be honest with you, the cars without it don't look any better.

My .02.

I think it's aesthetically a little odd... I'm a fan of the newer style, but to each his own. The interior works for me as-is. I'd like it to be a little more solid, but I got a great car at a great price, so I'm not expecting gold-plating. As for the angling of the panel... it's not angled towards the passanger, but it's definitely not angled towards me. I actually prefer this... I drove the CTS and absolutely hated the "trapped in" feeling I had in the cockpit.

Yeah, and the CTS has better quality of material inside I read. But when I drove one, the texture makes it look cheap!

When I went to our Cadillac dealer, I asked about the CTS and Sketchy McSketcherton (the salesman's name, I assumed) said "I have just the one you're looking for". He walks me into the dealership and shows me one that my DAD described as "a pimp-mobile". Custom purple. Gold everything, cloth top, etc. etc. SO FUNNY... this guy apparently didn't see that I was a 22 year-old white-bread guy.

Re: Interior upgrade slated for 2005??

Oh, I thought what was being called the "doggy-door" was that opening between the trunk and back seat, LOL, now I see what you are talking about! I think that was a neat thing, the handle, but I've gotten used to my '04 just fine!

And dnapoli, perhaps you could get a DashMat if the glare bothers you, I for one, don't see this problem and mine is Graphite too!
