NoVA Performance Shops/Winter Tires

Hi Guys, first time poster, long time reader. My G35s/DG/6MT/NAV is due to arrive next Friday (23rd)....I'm entirely too excited about it. My first question: Are there any good performance shops in the Fredericksburg area that have a dyno and I could trust with moding my car? Second question: Do you think the weather in the NoVA area gets severe enough to justify spending $800-$1200 on a second set of wheels and snow tires? Thanks for your help.

Re: NoVA Performance Shops/Winter Tires

If you get the summer tires, they're WORTHLESS in snow. I did a 180 goig 20 MPH on 1/2 inch of snow. I have the Eagle GSD which are great tires in the summer but horrible in snow and ice.
I bought 16 inch rims with Blizzak's which seem to be fine in snow and ice. Go to TireRack.com. They ship it mounted and balanced and quickly.
If you can avoid driving in the snow and ice, you're fine, otherwise get snow tires or you're looking for grief.

I had a 240SX in Lorton with all seasons and couldn't go up any inclines on Route 1.Now I have 16" Blizzaks with wheels from Tire Rack on my G Sedan and go anywhere in Northeastern PA with ease.

The summer compound performance tires won't grip for squat in cold temps, even in dry conditions. You're probably going to have to invest in snow tires.
