New Brakes! Free!!!

I brought my G in for an oil change today and the service advisor told me I'd be getting new pads for free. I completely forgot about the extended warranty on my 04. I managed to squeeze out 34,750 miles on the first set in the front (down to 1.5mm). My rears are still at 60%.

Wow my rears eat pads faster than the fronts. Gotta love the 4-pot to 1-pot ratio...

And congrats to you. Your car looks 10x better with 100k than it did with 1k.

I'm just wondering, why did you get new pads for FREE? Aren't pads considered normal wear and tear, just like tires, and the owner is responsible for it? My FX is due for new pads front and rear, and the service guys told me nothing about giving me new ones for free.

^Infiniti gave an extended warranty on the earlier years due to more than normal excesive wear.

i called the dealer a couple of weeks ago and asked if my car was covered under that extended brakes warranty. they took my VIN number and said no, not all models are covered. is that true? i was at a nissan dealership about a month ago, and they said i need new brakes and rotors, meanwhile infiniti had changed the brakes and rotors 9 months ago, in october. i have a little over 35K on the car, so is my car really not covered? if not, how much (approx.) does the dealer charge for new brakes and rotors?

Not to worry, the '05's sound like a f&^*ing school bus too. The stock pads are a nightmare. I feel like I am pulling a Yugo up to the stoplight it was so embarassing.

+1 on the 05 loaner I had while the dealership was installing my springs. I thought it needed new brakes .. but they seemed to be responsive and grabby ... just made a ton of noise.

How did you break them in? Most people don't know how to do this properly.

The extended brake warranty covers the pads up to 3yrs/36K on 03s and 03.5s, not sure about 04 or later models. I took my 03.5 in at ~20K with squeeling front brakes, the dealer told me I should get another 8-10K out of them & refused to replace. I went back in at 28K and they replaced the front pads for free. I replaced those with Hawk HPS pads myself at 38K and never regretted it.

I had my brakes replaced 3x under warranty. Also replaced front rotors free. 3yr/36k-mi warranty also applied to 2004 model sedan.
BTW, anyone need a 03-04 front bumper for sedan (DG w/black trim)?
PM me if interested & yes it is new & painted.
