Fitting mud guards?

Had a quick question about fitting f/r mudguards too my sedan. Does it involve drilling/taking off wheles etc. My Infiniti dealer wants $98 per pair for them, does that sound reasonable? I don't have the areo kit by the way.

Re: Fitting mud guards?

Hey mate, $98/pr. sounds reasonable for an installed price.
To install them properly on my Coupe involved removing the rear wheels (to do it right) and necessitated drilling 2 small holes. I expect the Sedan would be the same.

Re: Fitting mud guards?

My wife bought me some from Grubbs for Xmas at about $85/pair. The front guards go on very easily - you just have to turn the wheel to the right when you install the right guard and to the left when you install the left - this is to get the clearance to use a screwdriver. For the rears, according to my installation documentation, you will need to drill. You basically screw the guard on, then use a hole in the bottom of the guard as a template to drill into the plastic under the side sills (wouldn't be noticeable if you removed the guard). Then you'll need to remove the guards again, put a metal bracket over the hole you just drilled (to hold the screw), and put everything back. The whole procedure was straightforward and well documented. You'll need a 6mm drill bit, a 10mm socket, and a short philips screwdriver.

I'm very satisfied with the result - the guards give the illusion of the car being lowered and even hint of ground effects - very nice!

Re: Fitting mud guards?

People search a little more
85.00 plus shipping for the front and rear mudguards
This was posted by matter yesterday

get them from here, a lot cheaper . . i got my set from them . . 42.50 a pair for fronts and same for the rear . .

http://www.everythingnissan.com/

go to the left side and choose infiniti accessories, pick your model and year and it's under the "cosmetic upgrades" on the top tabs. everything is alphabetical so u have to scroll through the pages to look for "F" for front splash gaurds and another page for "R" for rear splash gaurds (pages 1 and 3 if they haven't changed the site so far). good luck

thanks matter

Re: Fitting mud guards?

Installing the fronts are a snap, but the rear can be a pain. It is best to remove the rear wheels, but I managed to get it done with a 90 degree angled screwdriver, although I suppose a really short one (as mentioned) would have also worked.

Good luck!

Re: Fitting mud guards?

the front guards are easy to put on, but the rears are pretty hard cuz the tires are very close to the screws you need to take out behind the tire. to drill the hole on the bottom, you may need to use ramps as well depending on how long your drill and drill bits are

Re: Fitting mud guards?

I installed them this weekend and they look great. There is no reason to have to remove the rear wheels. Just use a small 90 degree screwdriver. To get under the back of the car for the drilling, jack it up a bit so you can get your drill under to drill the hole. And BYW, the drilling is just through some plastic molding...no big deal. The whole process to install all four took me about an hour. And as others have said, I am very happy with the results.
