Obsidian Black paint match

Okay guys, it's time to do something with my grille. I plan to paint the inside of my headlights per ttrank's suggestion to go to Sherwin Williams to get a couple of cans of matched paint. But my question goes to those of you with painted grilles...

What did you use to match the color? Generic gloss black, or what?

Also, I've seen a couple of cars on the forum with the grille insert just removed, which gives it a nice look of the UTR grille, without the expensive insert. Am I seeing this right? Wouldn't there be issues of theives releasing the hood without the grille in place?

The only reason i dont want to take off the grill ,is because thieves would be able to pop myhood and disable my battery with the quickness. isnt thats why the grill has a backing around the emblem to prevent access to the hood latch?

Okay, okay, that's exactly what I thought. I will check on this for sure in the next week or so.

What route did you go? Sherwin Williams? Stay dry down there, I heard it's raining pretty bad...
