Coupe Mid Pipe / Z Tube / Pop Charger Review *Pic*

I just installed the Coupe Mid Pipe (See pic below), Z tube, and pop charger today on my '04 6MT. Just from reading the forums my expectations weren't set very high from a performance p/dollar standpoint but I am happy with the mods.

Coupe Midpipe
With a little Rust-off, an air gun, and a lift the stock pipe came off pretty easy However, looking at how rusted these things were I see how many people have had some headaches swapping these out. Its amazing how much smaller and lighter the coupe mid pipe is than the sedan's (see pic). Sound wise I'm very happy. It makes a much more aggressive sound at idle and under throttle (though hard to hear over the intake). Some people ask about drone and I can say that it does resonate ever so slightly in the cabin in the low rpms (between 1200-1800 rpms) but is not obtrusive what so ever. Great mod! Install Time: 15 min with a lift & power tools, 30-45min with a jackstand, rust off /pb blaster, and hand tools.

Z pipe / Pop Charger
All I can say is that its going to be very hard to keep my right foot off the gas becuase that motor makes such beautiful music now. The Z tube is a breeze to put on, i would say less than 10 min for just about anyone with basic mechanical skills (Heck, if you can change your oil you can do this). The Pop Charger was a little more difficult, well i should say time consuming. The rubber gasket things it comes with (to block heat) dont like to slide on to the heat shield very easy and took a bit of time to get right. All in all it was pretty striaght forward as well. Install Time: 15-45 min depending on how much trouble you have with the rubber gaskets included in the kit.

Performance Gains
Well, i would have liked to done a base line dyno but just didnt have time. I'll be sure to do one prior to any major mods. Throttle seems a little more responsive and the power seems to come on a little sooner, I dont think it has much of a peak gain but I can definately feel some gains throughout the power band. I haven't looked at enough dyno #'s to know what to expect from this but would guess 5-10whp. Cant see it being more than that. Even if its only 5 peak whp gained, the throttle response and sound was worth the money.

5/16" spacer coming soon.......

Do you happen to know if the 05+ sedans have a midpipe more like the one used in the coupes? I think I remember seeing somewhere that those were revised in 05.
Good work!

the 05/06 resonator is smaller/less weight than the 03/04 but still no where near the size of the coupe one.

Nice one Aubrey! You are lucky to have the power tools as it took my 3 hours to install my coupe mid pipe since I was laying on the ground trying to loosen my rusted bolts and those rubber hangers gave me a headache
As soon as your "package" is there I'm sure your car will be set up real nice I wont spoil it for everyone though but looks like your car is comin along real nice

You can find a used midpipe in the classified section of the marketplace under "exhaust", thats where I found mine. Check there often, because they go quickly. Expect to spend $50-80 plus any shipping. Here are two (alhough they are asking too much IMO, I got mine for $50):

I picked up my coupe mid-pipe from Z1 (www.z1motorsports.com) for $80 since I was already down there and didnt have to worry about shipping. I dont plan on changing the cat back (trying to keep it somewhat quiet) but will be doing HFC (high flow cats) sometime soon.
