Unhappy 03 battery dead - need suggestions

For the last 4-5 weeks, I have been driving my G very less and now my battery is dead. Jumped started 3-4 times and still dies out on me

Now the thing is this is a 2003 and I do not know if it still has the stock battery or a new one. I got this used in March 2005 and I know for sure that I have not changed the battery since I got it.

I got it from the local Infiniti dealer so I am pretty sure they must have worked up the G before I got them.

Here is my dilemma

1. How do I know if this is a stock battery or not.
2. I called local Infi dealer and they quoted around $200 ($160 + 40). But called Sears and the best battery they have with installation is $95 + $12 "Die Hard Gold"
3. How many CCA does it need. The one quoted from Sears (gold) had 550 CCA while the silver one ($20 less) had 480 CCA.

Thanx.

I've read good review about the sears batteries also "Die Hard".. that's why I called them.

I am planning to go there this Saturday.

Got some specs on the 2003 G35 (battery details)
==
Battery specification:
Type 80D26L
Capacity 12 V / 55 AH
Cold cranking current 582 A
Load test at 3 × AH for 15 seconds.

Battery charging rates:
Amps Time
50 1 hour
25 2 hours
10 5 hours
5 10 hours
Do not charge battery over 50 ampere rate.
Do not "quick charge" a fully discharged battery.
If battery electrolyte temperature rises above 140°F, stop charging.

I had the exact same problem on my 2003 G. I went to the local auto parts
store, gave him the year make and model, and he pointed me toward both
a top-shelf option (Optima) and an affordable option. The parts store will
be able to tell you exactly which model battery you should get. Stay away
from the dealer on this one - they'll just gouge you.

Also - consider replacing it yourself. It's easier than making toast and will
keep some coin in your pocket;-)

Charged? Do you mean what did I pay or?

I got mine for ~$120 from a friend who worked for a battery place.

I put an Interstate battery in my 03 about a year ago. It probably is the battery and time to get a new one. Word of advice. If you buy a new battery and take it home in your trunk, please remove it from your trunk before you unhook the old battery. I made that mistake and unhooked my battery before getting the new one out of the trunk. On the 03, you cannot open the trunk once you unhook the battery! The button on the trunk lid does not work either! Just some advice. Good luck!

Oh jeez, that totally makes sense. I hate how these cars don't have a damn keyhole on the trunk or a manual trunk release inside. Totally f'd up design by Infiniti IMO.

inconvenient? yes....F*cked up is a lil too extreme lol....you can always lock your wife/gf in the trunk and have her open it after the battery is diconnected. There are 2 manual opens inside and one glow in the dark
