firestone f*d up my rim

i got a flat tire last night, good thing i was close to home and parked it down the street from my home so that i can put the spare on this morning. it was a puncture through the tread. i just saw a big yellow thing sticking from my tire and heard air coming out at a rapid speed.

this morning i took it to firestone and had them repair it. Earlier that morning i used Fix A Flat, but no help. They tried to make an excuse and tried to hussle me into buying a new tire but i just made a sad face and "good news" they fixed it. They guy who repaired it placed into my trunk faced down. When i got home, there were gashes over the face and 4 sets of dents in each of my lip as a result of him clamping it down the wrong way.

I took it back and the service manager was cool about it and totally admitted fault to it and would do anything to fix it or replace it. I just wanted him to replace it. But it didn't turn out that way. we agreed that they'll have it sent out to be repaired and if i do not like it, we will take it on from there. Either new rim, or cash or something. Regardless I got some paperwork with the service managers name stating that I left my rim there and they were at fault and they would fix or repair it. So, a bad situation turned out simple. Very cool guy. I personally would like it replaced bc it is anodized and the clear coat will probably not be there anymore once they repolish it. I know they wont be able to get it back to the original Diamond Cut finish.

That sucks man. Go to discount tire instead, they have protectors to keep the rims safe.

If you want it replaced, you should push your hardest towards that. Its their fault, and since they have full responsibility for the damage to YOUR rim, it should be YOUR ultimate decision on what exactly happens.

thats why my dad got a badass machine that doesnt even touch the lip or rim it just bolts up to the center with a hard *** plastic and the machine pretty much does all the work for you. its pretty sweet since now we can work on all those small *** tires on big rims without even touching it now

well, the manager was kinda of an a**, he did say that it would be fixed by the shop. if the shop said they couldn't fix it, then they'd replace it. I tried to tell him that the finish and clear coating would be bad and if it wouldn't look the same as it once did, or if it didn't look the same as the others, or if i'm not satisfied with it, they should replace it. He said thats what the shop does. Fix it, clear coat it and sh*t. Well, theres no way in h8ll that they can get it back to stock finish.

should i put up more of a fight to get a new rim, or just keep it. I was thinking that if it were to look almost like it is suppose to, just keep it and not make a big fuss about it. Maybe try to hustle them for a new tire or something.

I call on a few shops that do wheel repair and they do nice work. Give it a chance and if you can tell the difference, then fight for new.

well heres an update. i did give them a chance to fix it. While driving around for a week on a spare they called me and said the shop wasn't able to fix it.

"I told ya so." I said.

well, graciously thanked them for trying to fix it and now they're ordering me a new one. So the old is back on (w/out center cap bc they lost it) and now i have to wait about 60-90 days for the new one to come in. I thanked them for making the whole ordeal pleasant in a way. and that was that. I guess it was kind of a blessing. That was the same rim that i F*d up the lip b4 they made it worse.
