Suspension Squeaking

Today I noticed my suspension started squeezing when I hit bumps in the road. I installed 350z spring about a year ago. It seems its just the driver side squeezing. Does anyone know what this could be.

i installed my revised 06 springs and shocks and my rear passenger started squeaking. After a long inspection, I found out my it was the shock, I had to replace it...At first I thought it was a bushing, but it was a constant squeak, so if you are hearing it only on speed bumps, it could be your bushing...GL man

First place I would check is the sway bar bushings.

I drove it to work today with no passenger and it didn't squeak. I will check the bushings and sway bar. I have the stock sway bars on the car still.

The preformance shop said to check my hood first. He said sometimes that could cause the sqeaking noise, but I am thinking its bushings, like mentioned above.

I guess if its bushings, I should go ahead and get the Stillen sways put on since the shop would have to take the sways off to lube. Correct??

i initially thought my squeaking was due to the sway bushings too...therefore, i installed the hotchkis sways...but the squeaking was still there...nontheless, Im so glad i got the sways, they are a world of a difference!!!

You can just drop the center sway bar mounts and re-lube them (it that's the problem). It is only a few bolts. Either way the sway bars are very easy to swap out.

It’s very common... compression rods have been replaced on soooo many cars (including mine) that I don’t know why it's not a TSB... if your still under warranty they will replace for free... If you search you'll find that many, many, many have had this problem - it likely is what you are experiencing.

part numbers used on my replacements: 54468 - AC70F, and 54469 - AC70F (1 digit difference must identify right and left, I presume).

FWIW – I also had the rear connecting rods replaced (way before the front compressions rods)… it has not been as common of a problem (that I have noticed) with other Gs out here – but the pre-05 cars had smaller weaker connecting rods and the dealer admi9tted to me that they were replacing often (that’s why it’s strange that there isn’t or hasn’t been much talk about it on the boards)… anyway, Nissan identified it as a weak part and started using beefier ones in 05 and beyond… they replaced mine with the new. It addressed a “clunking type sound I had in the rear.

Part number used: 54668 – EG011, and 54618 – EG010

How much are these parts: Part number used: 54668 – EG011, and 54618 – EG010?
How about after market connecting rods/links?

There's a very good chance it's the compression rods, as that is a very common problem. I had mine replaced twice under warranty already. Seemed to happen at about every 15K miles, so I might be back right around 45k. It's a headache, though, as the techs usually will say: "unable to reproduce", and sometimes it is hard to reproduce. I found a really concrete way to reproduce it and I was able to make the squeak at will in front of the service tech, so they couldn't turn me away the 2nd time. The parts cost $15.05 and $12.78 respectively.

BTW according to my invoice (which is where I got the part prices from), the dealer calls them rear sway bar links, or connecting rods. I think they are both the same thing. If you are looking for compression rods, that is a more expensive item than the connecting rods.

So far my front compression rods are fine. It has 48K mile and quite a few track days. On the other hand the rear sway bar links are toast. So are the larger 05 links worth getting or should I go after market and what brand ?

Control Arms

I had some noise coming from what I thought was the suspension. Took it in and they said they needed to lube the sway bar bushings. Went home as soon as I pulled up into the driveway there it is again! Took it back in this time they took the car out with mics hooked up to isolate the issue. They ended up replacing both control arms. Squeak is now gone. Only 24k on the car too.
