This is great info guys. Now I know where to look when I need them. However, I was wondering.... If I'm still getting good air flow and no unusual smells, is it really necessary to change the filter at all? I would rather not have to bother with this until it was noticabley time to change it. I have a feeling that it will be a very long time too.

I waited 3.5 years or so and it was not that bad but I don't live west of Dallas and I don't drive all that much. If you have airflow and no smells, you should be fine. Some people have pulled a squirrels nests out of thier filter box from parking outside. yum

I just installed the activated carbon one last night. No real difference so far, I'll have to drive through a smelly part of town to really know if the carbon does anything

From what little I know about acivated carbon, it should do a nice job of absorbing odors, but if you use your ventilation system regularly, the carbon would be pretty saturated in a relatively short period. I guess if the filters are cheap and easy to change and you live in a smelly area, it would be worth changing them frequently if it bothers you.

For the installation, the arrow should be pointing down right? since the air is being pulled down into that turbine thing. Also, how did you guys mount the filter? I pushed it back onto that white ledge thing, but I'm not sure if thats right.

Oh and some how I managed to have a screw fall into this gap where the door panel is, now I can't find it!

Arrgggh, someone please help.

Hmm, don't remember seeing an arrow on the filter. Did you get the carbon one?
I don't think you want to start your A/C fan with a screw in it. You might want to try to open up the assy.

There is actually a product listing for the FX/G35 on their website...its the same filter but just so there is no confusion when ordering
